Last night on the radio, I heard someone saying he stopped being a Habs fan to become a Tampa Bay fan when the Habs traded Desjardins to Tampa.

Dont get why Weber or Palushaj are on the 4th, I would switch one of the 2 with Darche

Good call. You misspelled Québécois though

Guessing Yemelin will be in on Oct 6 but it's thought watching a big game (tonight is the biggest preseason game for the Habs fair to say?) will help him put things in perspective. Dunno but I like Yemelin it would be a shame after courting him for years if we suddenly signed Campoli and that left no room for Yemelin...

I doubt Diaz has surpassed Yemelin as some have said. Diaz has mad a lot more glaring errors than Yemelin. I really hope they aren't planning on letting Yemelin go back to Russia.

That being said, I do like Diaz, but I think he needs a year in the AHL

from canadiens.com

Gionta - Gomez - Pacioretty
Darche - Desharnais - Cole
Cammalleri - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
Weber - Engqvist - Palushaj

Gorges - Campoli
Diaz - Spacek
Gill - Subban

Interesting 2nd-3rd lines indeed

Weber, a right handed D on the left wing... Wow, that's a real joke.

I think they've been relatively similar in performance just in different areas, the concensus on HF is that we need Yemelin for his defensive/physical skillset (I also share this view) but it's hard to deny that Diaz despite his defensive short comings has shown more poise and skill with the puck on his stick then any other defenseman not named PK Subban so far in this training camp. The biggest detractor in public opinion on Diaz is that he's just another small, soft defenseman, thus fits the mold of the majority of our existing core which people can't stand.

I think tonight may be more about giving Diaz one last chance to surpass Yemelin more than anything, but who knows what the organization has in mind.

Diaz has improved all through the camp while Emelin, who looked more promising at the start, hasnt progressed much.. I still like what I see from Yemelin and I dont think we should be worried to lose him.. Will be our 6-7th defenseman to start the season.. Weber is the one who should worry at the moment..

LoL Make me believe the second line is our real second line and the third line isnt our first line...

Some of the challenges young players have to overcome include gaining the confidence of their team mates. Time and again, I saw Canadien veterans trying to make a difficult pass to another veteran rather than the easy and obvious pass to Yemelin.

It happened in the offensive zone and in the defensive zone. Subban did it, so did Cammalleri and others.

It takes a while and all rookies go through it. It's not an indictment of the veterans it is simply part of the development process. That is one of the reasons that it can take new players some time to make a positive contribution to the team.

In the case of Yemelin, his decision making was no worse than any of the other Canadiens. From time to time Subban was trying to look like a one man show, Gill made some poor decisions and got caught flat footed. Cammalleri tried to thread passes through a clogged up middle rather than to a wide open point man, Gionta always shoots even when a pass would be better.

Let's face it, if you want to look for a point in a game where a player makes a poor decision you can easily find it, no matter who the player is. Some are given the opportunity to redeem themselves and others are punished with reduced ice time. It's a tough decision for the coach to decide which approach is better for each player.

The kid won't last for long in the Montreal organization.

He is the next youngster to get rid of.

Spacek in, we win tonight and i'm not even kidding! Spacek will pair up with Subban before the end of the year. He seems ready to shine with us this year. Watch out

I must say that, aside from the random 4th line and Diaz in (instead of Emelin), I like this lineup. (considering injuries) And I'd like it to be the starting lineup against TO.

Surprised to see Diaz getting the start instead of Emelin. I still expect it to be the other way round in the opener.

I really don't see why everyone seems to high on Emelin. He's really disappointed me. No intensity and involvement, questionable positioning. But it is still just preseason and I'm sure they want to try stuff out so I wouldn't read into his benching tonight too much.

A lot of guys who play the wing like playing on their opposite sides. Gives you a better angle at the net. He's got that shot remember. Needs to use it though.

If there's something I hate, it's seeing defencemen on the 4th line. Gives me flashes of Carbonneau. Small, soft defenceman on the 4th line wtf. And what is Palushaj still doing with the team? Gtfo.

So long we hardly knew ye Yannick Weber. Doubt he finishes the season with us now, he's worth a lot more on his two year under 1 mil contract now than he will be next year. It will sting to lose him but it's bound to happen.

I see no reasons to do that.
