Gaborik is a shooter.

And Richards and Del Zotto shoot well enough.

Id like to see:

Stepan. Dubinsky. Gaborik
Del Zotto. Richards
i'd switch Cally for Stepan

I'd put Boyle on the top PP unit, have Zuccarello play on it too and have Dubi, Cally, and Wolski work the 2nd unit with Stepan and Bell/McDonagh at the point.

Indeed. Richards doesn't have the bomb of one of those guys, but he's got a deceptively quick shot that he likes to put on net from the point. He's good for a number of PP goals (7 last year, 13 the year before -- for frame of reference, Callahan led us with 10 pp goals last season).

I don't see Boyle as having the skill for the top unit. He has a big body and the hard shot, but he lacks accuracy and the ability to make a good enough pass.

If we needed someone to be a presence in front of the net, I'd rather continue to use Callahan.

Seriously. Callahan's 10 pp goals--in only 60 games--puts him top 20 in the NHL in pp goals. No way in hell he should be on our second unit behind Boyle.

We could, if we were to use Cally then we could use AA on the second unit, but I think Boyle, as a 20 goal guy, is capable of being the net presence.

He scored some good deflection goals last year. He scored one this preseason. I don't think passing will be a huge issue. Neither he nor Cally have the world's softest hands, but I think its a wash between them and if thats the case i'd prefer to have Cally on the second unit where I think he'd be much better than Boyle.

You can't have all the big guns on one PP unit.

I'm the one suggesting we use him on the top powerplay. Read closer.

Just what I think to.
Very happy for him making the team. What will he have to do(produse),to earn him self a QO and a one way contract next summer?

That is very true. I'm just hesitant to put Boyle on the powerplay. Despite last season's 20 goal effort, I don't want to give him too much and then have him struggle.

Realistically, what would you see as the powerplay lines?

In all honesty, I wouldn't want

Zuccarello-Boyle-Gaborik
Richards-Del Zotto

to be our top unit. Honestly I think that line looks pretty bad.

Wolski-Anisimov-Callahan
McDonagh-Stepan

is a pretty good 2nd line.

I just think the top powerplay unit wouldn't be very intimidating.

Bell

Looking at Capgeek, the Rangers already have 50 players under contract. So, where does Bell fit in? I assume they need to make a trade before they can offer Bell a contract.

Maybe Weise wasn't put through waivers yet because they are working to deal him?

Figured Erixon was going to the AHL. He just did not look NHL ready. The speed clearly gave him problems at times. I have no doubt he will be a great NHL dman for us in the future, but i'm glad they sent him down for a few months in the AHL.

Del Zotto, while hasn't looked like a stud out there by any means, has been ok. He just needs to spot throwing the puck up the middle and he needs to spot cutting in front of the net with the puck.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe 3 contracts slide (Thomas, McIllWrath & Miller) as they were returned to juniors. Opening up 3 spaces for new contracts... Not sure about Yogan either...

capgeek shows 49 guys under contract, 23 'on roster' and 26 as non-roster players...and guys returned to juniors don't count so you can subtract miller, thomas, mcilrath. that puts us at 46. they don't have bell listed so he becomes 47 with 3 spots open

Too bad Dubinsky is not placed as a center. I think he would be a great center. And the 2 nd line should be Zuccarello - Dubinsky - Callahan

Not in even strength.

On the penalty kill, yes. If needed on the powerplay, yes.

Just not during even strength.

Well yea, that's what I'm talking about. He mentioned a line, not a PP unit. The only reason Dubi even plays Center on the PK and PP is because he is our best face-off man. On even strength, Dubi even will take the face-off for Arty and then switch back to the wing.

Dubi is our second best guy behind Boyle. But thats a problem anyway.

Hopefully Richards can become our best guy and make Dubi, Stepan, and Boyle all better.

Richards isn't that good in the circle either.

We just need to hope the guys stop using the same crappy method they use.

Messier needs to stop teaching them. He only made them crappier.
