It's nice to try things, but we have had more rookies up than any other team, hence the record. You can't experiment on the last game! Cole & Max should be on the same line during real season.
This is never going to happen on a regular basis. JM has said repeatedly he likes to keep pairs together, for two seasons now, even when REALLY struggling those pairs have been Pleky - Cammy and Gio - Gomez .. only on a few rare ocassions when the team was really struggling did JM break that.
Interesting rant by Mario there ... Budaj told him that he felt really privileged to play on the Habs because amongst other things, they have a goaltending coach, they didn't in Colorado, only part time.
1,5 Million a year to sit on a bench, he better bend over & take it!
I just really see our defense being exposed this year, especially with Markov out of the line-up.
I think Yemelin (with some work and patience) can really add an element to our blueline that is sorely missing.
Teams are not afraid to skate over our blue-line, because they know nobody is going to touch them.
I don't agree. We lost, what, Hamrlik and Wiz who weren't that much of a physical presence to add Campoli (who is actually a gritty player who can hit), Yemelin (who, in my opinion, will play on the opening night) and Woywitka who could play 10-20 games this season.
What matters is that we've got Cole and Pac (two 6'2'' guys in the Top 6 who will hit).
i was 100% confident that yemelin would be on the team now this healthy scratch is scary to me ... someone please let me know why he is sitting and do you think he will be on the team this Thursday vs leafs
It's nicely above average for the conference. They have a first pair who can outscore the best opponents (Subban and whoever), a capable second pair which can take some tough minutes (built around Gorges) and a good third pair. The majority of teams don't have that luxury -- a lot lack a #1 D-man altogether. Campoli gives the unit a lot of depth.
Spacek is a big factor. People think he sucks, when he's actually quite an effective defender. "He looks terrible", that may be, but he's also good at limiting chances against despite fairly tough opposition, and ultimately that's the name of the game.
Don't compare it to what it looks like with Markov in (likely the best D in the conference) -- compare it to what other teams have.
