Only 23 years old too. 27 points in 51 games in the AHL last year and played 20 games in the bigs, 5 points and +5 with the Islanders. Maybe I'm just reading stats and he's not that good. Meh... no real room for him here.
I wish we could take him now. I've always liked him as well

I disagree, if the Oilers need help, Shaone Morrison is probably a better option, just because he has more NHL experience.

Hopefully there's a decent D or two to hit the waiver wire at the end of the preseason.

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
Mancari, Duco, Parent, (VAN); Pouliot, Tikhonov (PHX); Mitchell, Newbury, Kris (NYR); Stapleton (WPG); St Pierre, Giroux, Holden, (CBJ).

Today's list. Someone has to take Tikhonov, don't they?

Holden might be interesting. +2 on a bad Springfiled team last year, 2nd amongst dmen in scoring, almost 1 pm per game. 6'4" 24 year old.

Might be a suitable 3rd pairing guy like Potter if Smid is out long term.

edit - on the Columbus board, it was thought that Holden would make the team, even Portsline had him "leaning in" , not getting sent down.

I'm pretty sure Holden was a training camp invite a couple years back.

I'd wait to see what else drops on the wire.

Name stood out to me too. I thought he was pretty decent was he not?

I think you might be thinking of Dorsett.

Nah.

It was Duco who kept taking liberties on Hall in the 2-1 win for Vancouver in the preseason. Remember Smyth coming and smashing him into the ice because he was beaking Hall?

Trust me you don't want him. He is horrible, he's simply not an NHL level hockey player. Brutal isn't a strong enough word to describe Ryan Parent.

I am feeling bad for Parent. He has really been moved around alot in the last year. I hope someone grabs him, and he can "settle" in somewhere!

I don't know the guy really hasn't done much to warrant a NHL spot

I'd rather just call up Teubert if that was our option. Parent has had enough chances with enough organizations to show he probably isn't an NHL player at this point in his career.

Pick up Tikhonov. Jettison O'Marra into space.

Why did he fail to progress? Was not he a top 20 pick with size and speed? Seems strange he was not able to carve out a role for himself in the NHL, even if just as a bottom pairing defenseman.

I doubt they are looking to add a guy like Tikhonov. If they pick him up, they have to play him in the NHL. Which winger is he going to displace from the current roster?
He sure got some skill, but his max upside is likely a 3d liner. We have enough prospects who are safe enough bets to get there one day in Lander, Hartikainen, Hamilton, Pitlick, and possibly Martindale etc.

My bad, I was certain Tikhonov was a center and to me, he would be an upgrade over O'Marra (in my pretend world where they're the same position). I agree on the wings though. I don't see him replacing anyone in that condition. So far in his career he's seemed solid defensively and is able to chip in a bit offensively for his role. All a moot point since he's not a center.
