People complaining that Diaz is too soft on the backend are the same who complained about Streit for the same thing, and who then whined about how we never should have let him go.

Honestly?
Content? Yes. Confident in? Hell yes. I don't hate Diaz like you seem to, and SPacek will be more than servicable the way JM plays him. This is a good defensive line-up. Am I completely and totally in love with it? Obviously not. I tend to have a reasonably optimistic attitude, and I think the defence will be at the very least competent and effective throughout the season.

Besides, it makes no sense to say "DO YOU LOVE THIS DEFENCE!?!?!" because it's going to keep changing all season long with Markov's return and potential injuries, short or long term.

Engqvist should have been covering Lecavalier...if defense is your game, you can't miss that..

What matters is that we've got Cole and Pac (two 6'2'' guys in the Top 6 who will hit).
Wisniewski is pretty physical

I see extreme talent in Diaz, very reminiscent of Streit... This guy is going to be a keeper for us.

Judging ONLY by his first few games of NHL play, he is better overall off the bat than Streit. We'll see how he develops because Streit really did make great strides as he adjusted more and more, but right now he is way ahead of were Streit was in his first few NHL games IMO.

Actually, Diaz will probably never, ever have Streit's hockey sense. But he seems to be a better stickhandler and to have a more powerful shot.
