We just completely dominated them from begin to end and that's what you people are focusing on.

Yeah isn't pathetic how we beat them 5-1. Isn't it especially pathetic that Gorges jumped in there right away to protect his teammate, I don't want losers like Gorges on my team standing up for his teammates.

It doesn't.
It's not a question of preventing it. Clearly all around the league teams are continually showing no respect for the safety of other players.

But when your goalie is getting run every game, and players are getting run at, it is an issue.

Do you think Boston would just stand around their crease and watch someone knock Thomas over? Of course not.

We need someone to stand up for our best players, and exact revenge on their best players if they don't settle down.

Malone was a wild man all night. He was taking liberties on Subban. Someone should have carved his face open and maybe Campoli wouldn't have received a blow to the head.

Shanahan will suspend Malone. He has set precedent with his calls, and if MacArthur can get the rest of the exhibition and 2 regular season games there is no reason such a hit like this isn't 5-8 games.

It would have because the tough guy would have taken care of Malone during the 1st period after he crossed check Price, speared Campoli, punched Subban, ...

He was clearly frustrated and no one to calm him. Anyway ...

Imagine if Marc Savard played for us? His career would probably be over now.

I admire Gorges for what he did. He is a warrior.

But Malone slaughtered him in that fight, Gorges played the role of a punching bag.

Which is too bad...because Gorges is about the only one tonight who would jump into to defend his teammates.

Hey. Plekamaniac is whining about physical players after a dominating victory. Let's check my surprise-o-meter!

Conservatism. Tradition. Wish to see and justify fighting. Wish to justify "old time hockey".

Also, too much listening to Don Cherry and the umpteen ex-goons who've become commentators.

It's not a terribly rational sentiment.

Diaz was pretty impressive tonight, he had some nice and quick passes, some dangles, a good game for him.

We're too soft, and i'm srs.
Don't you ****ing understand, going after Malone wouldn't change anything unless he got beat up and hurt so bad that he suffered from PTSD afterwards or something. It should not be called "sending a message" but being vengeful. And an attitude like doesn't get you anywhere insofar that the goal is diminish the number of headshots, not increase them. It's not for the players to discipline themselves because things simply escalate. It's the league's job to discipline players, and, finally, Shanny is doling those suspensions like he should.

I really don't get the toughness talk. Tampa isn't a tough team, they didn't outmuscle us once tonight. They had one guy who plays on the edge who lost his cool, that has nothing to do with toughness unless we cheapshot him first.

It's not like the Habs got under their skin by being saints. Subban and AK threw some nasty hits, even Weber slashed some guy at one point.

The only way to prevent a team from wanting retaliation is by not completely outplaying them like the Habs did tonight. If we had Moen or White healthy things might have diffused sooner, but maybe not. Malone didn't want a fight, he wanted something to fix his wounded pride. This has nothing to do with softness.

I can't believe people are complaining after such a one sided performance.

So all the other players who got suspended did what they did because the other team has zero enforcers?

Man what a weak league.

Sorry, nothing is going to stop you from being an idiot and targeting the head.

Good for Gorges for standing up. But I'm not going to cry for an enforcer. Find me a guy who can score goals and still be an enforcer.. then we might be talking, but how rare are those?..

I don't want a guy who will spend 4 minutes of ice time.

The real problem was Campbell, you wouldn t have been suspended last year for any of the offenses that have occurred this pre season. When we will have a bunch of guys that lose 4 or 5 games in suspensions costing them 300 to 400 grand, They ll get the message then.

There are a lot of people that still think that physical punishment to kids helps build their character and prevents behavior problems and ADHD. I mean, it worked for centuries, right?

And many people who thing that secondary smoking is a "fabrication", and that they should be allowed to smoke wherever they want. Or to drive at 200km/h if their car can take it.

And there is a whole huge nation down south who thinks (most of them at least) that if every citizen would have a handgun in his home, this would reduce violence and crime.

Don't look for rationality when men and violence are involved. It's back to the cave.

I think people are concerned that we may have lost a top-4 defenceman to concussion and another needs stitches. "We completely dominated" doesn't compensate for that, nor will Malone not playing for five or ten or fifty games compensate us for that.
