Because we're not in a position where we have to rush our 18-19 year olds because they had okay pre-seasons.

im not sure anyone played particularly well outside of Henrik. A pretty miserable effort to be honest.

Have to agree, nobody stood out.

But the travel i feel is starting to take its toll. They left this morning and flew in on the same day for their game. Its all a big rush, im not sure why they thought 4 useless games in 5 nights in different countries would be a good idea.

I do think Del Zotto has definitely looked better as the pre-season has went on. Kind of excited to see he will look once the season starts.

With pre-season being well...pre-season, Zuccarello and Boyle look really hungry to improve..Its tough to judge the big boys like Dubi, Cally, Richards, and Gaborik...because ya wonder is this effort and desire were seeing like in true NHL regular season effort? I like the chemistry with Richie and Gaborik thats for sure, and after watching today's game its pretty clear that no one left wing option has completely clicked with those two. So for the first probably 10-20 games of the season we'll have a bit of a merry-go-round with the viable options for that spot.

Figure it to start off the year as follows

Wolski - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Rupp - Stepan - Zuccarello
Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust

McDonagh - Girardi
Bell - Sauer
Del Zotto - Eminger

Another thing I noticed today was how much better did Del Zotto look knowing that he was no longer fighting Erixon for a spot "technically" anymore..I thought he was night/day in comparison as to when he knew it was still between he and Erixon, verse knowing he's pretty much a lock..Thought that confidence he's gained of not being cut served him very well today..

Stu Bickel big body guy, but other than that imo wouldn't fair to well especially when we have to play the big Trio of Anaheim, or L.A's powerhouse offense.

In regards to the decision of Christensen or Avery, I dont think it matters cuz unless we stumble across an injury neither will see time anytime soon in a NYR sweater once the reg season starts..

I agree that MZA and Boyle look determined.

I think MDZ has looked better in the last 2 games

I would consider giving Mitchell or Newberry a shot at that 13th fwd spot.

does anyone like watching hockeynight live? i find this show to be very annoying with the cast they have on here. seemingly all they talk about it making the game softer. somehow they even manage to get danyko to side on the extra safe side of the game.

i agree. i'm normally one to point out where MDZ needs improvement - but he definitely looked more confident

not sure why making the game safer is bad. i agree with them

the devils and isles talk bores me though. wish it were a 1hr Rangers magazine show. It would be better and they'd get better ratings

Yea that really bothers me too. Very upset to see how soft the game is getting but what can you do.

come on. the game is not and never will be soft.

cutting out head shots has to happen. you can't have players like Crosby, Savard etc getting concussions and potentially losing careers. It makes no sense.

No touch icing is important too. Did you see the Fedun injury the other night?

the game is definitely not soft.

I would assume so, also since the game was televised, the highlights will be up. Don't know if that made the highlights (it should've ) but there will probably be a re-run on tonight.

Fedetenko has been invisible. He should be fighting for a spot as well. Don't care about the contract he signed. Didn't think they should have resigned him in the first place with all the young guys knocking on the door.

Of the young guys "knocking on the door," what kid do you think exactly impressed so much that they should have started this year?

There was no Stepan or Anisimov, no no brainer who played well all preseason with the possible exception of Bourque. And he needs some time in hartford.

Duby, Cally, Prust, Boyle and Rupp give us plenty of grit.

I would have cut Avery and EC and not resigned Feds. I would have used their 4-5 mill on 1 good scorer for the first line via FA or trade.

And what scorer would that be? Who was available at a reasonable price?

Fedotenko was one of our best players in the playoffs last year. He also has chemistry with Richards and can sub in on the top line if need be.

Only guy that comes to mind for me was Simon Gagne.

With veterans like Fedotenko, I don't put a lot of stock in exhibition performance.
