@mirtle James Mirtle
Oilers put Gilbert Brule on waivers.

And for anyone who doesn't know.. James Mirtle is a Globe and Mail hockey reporter.

Not surprised. He looked pretty bad in the preseason.

I'd love for the Wings to claim him, why was he put on waivers though?

Someone should give him a shot, he's had a tough time in the NHL, he just needs a chance to play every night. Stick him on your fourth line and see if he can turn it around.

Hoping for someone to pick him up.

I'd love to see the Wings pick him up, he could very well be another Cleary. He just needs to stay healthy and get some playing time with a winning organization.

Brule could be an interesting player to pick up on waivers. Had a good season in 09-10 and so shows that he can play well, dropped of since then due to injury but I think with the right team, he could work and be a decent pick-up.

With some of the injuries on Toronto I wonder if he can be a stopgap for October.

Yeah that and he's easy to cheer for. Seems like a good guy.

Doesn't fit in with the C depth as Lander and RNH have outplayed him. I thought they'd at least give Brule more games in the preseason to prove himself but I guess not. I'm assuming Gagner won't be ready for the opener so Lander and RNH will be battling for that last spot until Gags is back.

I think I'd rather they bring up Colborne as the stop-gap for October if needed.

If Sturm is given a suspension I wouldn't hate the idea of picking Brule for a little while...

So spend 1.850 million to cover Sturm's suspension. What the heck it's not your money.

I think he could fit on the Yotes third or fourth line. At least until Turris is signed or traded, that is.

It would piss me off to no end(lol), but he does have a very succesful relationship with Vancouver. Might be a Luc Robitaille situation (he was never nearly as good outside LA). Not that it's likely he does a sudden 180, just never know.

Well look at the bright side, apparently he's healthy otherwise he couldn't be waived. Glad to hear he's feeling better.

I feel bad for him but come on, what were people thinking? He's a 5'10" 180 lbs. POWER FORWARD?

He was unstoppable with the Giants, but his game was never gonna translate to the NHL.

I remember that Don Cherry said he's better than Crosby and deserves to be picked 1st overall, albeit that came after Cherry was fuming mad Crosby didn't participate in the CHL prospects game.

He's barely an NHLer now. I'll be surprised if he doesn't clear.
