Because he wasn't very good and has been dealing with psychological demons his whole career.

If any team could turn him around though, it's the Wings. Similarities between him and Danny Cleary, for sure.

If we hadn't signed Wellwood, I'd love to have him on the bottom six of the Jets.

Anyone else had a grin reading this, thinking of fans crying foul when Gainey picked Price over Brule?

Brule did have a hat trick in that game.

The thing with Brule is that he's so versatile. He can play any of the forward positions and he has a great skillset. Good on faceoffs, fast, hits hard, great shot.. I don't understand why he can't put it all together. His only flaws are that he's inconsistent and injury prone but if he can find a nice fit somewhere in a better role than a 4th liner he'll do just fine. And I don't think it's fair to call him a bust just yet. This guy was one of the best Oilers in 09/10.

Hope he gets claimed and not to a western conference team because he has the potential to bite us in the ass.

That would be a stretch at this point. He has Mike Peca skills but can't put it together. If he's going to have success it's probably as a winger.

Well that ignores the fact he has never had pro success as a center, so i don't think that can be really refrenced as a plus. I don't think he will bite us in the ass, 20 goals is probably his celing at this point and he wasn't going to do that here. But i see your point...

I mainly meant physically. Brule would crush us if he had the chance playing against us 4 times a year..

If you're waived by Edmonton, it's agood clue that you are pretty awful. I guess this means Lander made the team?

Ha Ha. I'm sure Nash was mishandled as well. What about the four first year players that made the team this year that were, get this, drafted and developed by the CBJ. Try again. Yes the CBJ's draft history and development issues have been duly noted in the past. But how about for once these players take responsibilty for their own play. What Zherdev, Brule and Filatov all have in common is they all had talent, were all given a spots in the NHL by the CBJ and they all weren't successful in holding on to it for a variety of reasons. Now two of them are no longer in the league. We'll see how Filatov fares. If he keeps his same "entitlement" attitude, he won't last long on the Sens either.

He had a pretty rough battle with the flu off and on last season, but I don't think there is a depression issue.

I hope he gets picked up, and I think he will. He's running out of time to show it but I still think there's a player there.

He's only played RW for the Oilers(and the Blue Jackets too, I'm pretty sure).

He's good at face-offs, but he doesn't have the defensive acumen to be an NHL 3rd line C right now.

I have a feeling this has the potential to bite the Oilers.

I like Brule, and I think getting waived can make a guy like him really determined.

But, I could be wrong.

Actually I could see Brule being a very good fit with the Canucks as the team's spare forward.

He is very well liked in Vancouver due to his association with the Giants. Fan support could go a long way in giving him a phycological lift.

For the Canucks, as an earlier poster pointed out Brule is very versitile. He can play wing or centre and from 4th to 2nd line. Our current starting line up is:

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Sturm - Hodgson - Samuelsson
Higgins - Malhotra - Hansen
Volpatti - Lapierre - Oreskovich

Bieksa - Hamhuis
Edler - Salo
Ballard - Tanev

Luongo
Schneider

Raymond and Kesler on LTIR. No spare forward. 3 spare defensemen (Alberts, Rome & Sulzer)

To stay with a 23 man roster & pick up Brule while keeping Alberts, Rome and Sulzer, Tanev would have to be sent to Chicago until one or two of those three defensemen could be traded. Both the Oilers and the Rangers are looking for defencemen or maybe as a package including Raymond and Schnieder for an impact forward. Personally I would actually feel better with Sturm as our 13th forward, move Higgins to the 2nd line and put Brule on our 3rd line with Malhotra and Hansen.
