Toronto bottom pairing D should be Gardiner and Komi - Our speedy forwards should be able to do something there.

I like the Habs, but that D is VERY scary. Making the playoffs with that D is not a given. Habs will have to battle hard. They not only need Markov back in good shape, I really think they also need Emelin to develop very fast, + another d-man in a trade.

Many here won't agree, but it's my opinion.
What a joke...

Diaz, Enqvist and Palushaj in the starting line-up...

No words to explain this.

Did Weber have that bad of a camp that he fell behind Diaz? Or is he slated to start the year up front? Forgive my ignorance if this has been covered.

Diaz must have pictures on Habs management. I have no idea how he is slotted in the #6 spot.

I have Yemelin and Weber ahead of him.

probaly has something to do with the words "projected", "based", and "practice".

my guess is weber is slotted as a forward. you can pretty much guarantee yemelin will start the season. it'd be... odd, if he didn't.

Komisarek's presence on the ice = 5 PP's for the Habs

Well Diaz was in the lineup for the final pre-season game...I would assume he starts in the top 6 come Thursday.

I don't mind Diaz as a bottom 6 + pp time D for us on Thursday. He was pretty decent offensively and minus 1 or 2 nervous puck carrying in the D zone he was steady. He still shies off form physical stuff but that should calm down as he gets more NHL games inside him.

I stongly disagree. Diaz had a way better pre-season than Yemelin and Weber. That's not to say he will be better, but right now I think Diaz looks more NHL ready.

Weber didn't have that great a preseason but I think he has earned a spot in the lineup whether it be forward or spot filling on defence. I hope they don't give up on this kid.

I think both Diaz and Yemelin have done better than Weber. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade in the next couple days.

I'd like the Habs to showcase Weber for a bit, because right now i don't know what he can get us.

I always hoped he'd play for a complete season and put some good numbers for us then get us a James Neal...

Come on.
Last year, we were often playing one, if not two, players between Picard, Weber, Mara or Sopel...and except Weber, they are not good enough to crack a Top-6 without injuries. It was a patchwork made during the season, but this year, even with 3 (!) players out, they would still not be in the lineup.

So, i think that its not that bad.
The fact that Diaz and Yemelin are still adapting themselves, and then, are probably not as good as they could be right now, should not change the idea we have about their potential.
We can be quite confident about the ability of the coaching staff to help this group to better than expected, on paper, and to help the young players to develop themselves as good players.

We still have a joker with Markov.

And with Subban and/or Markov, it cant be worst group seen in the last decade, at least, especially when we compare our D-squad with the the ones before the arrival of Hamrlik, for instance.

I don't think you've seen gardiner skate. His skating is the best aspect of his game. Komi is slow so you probably will go around him.

Just said on tsn radio that Connolly is only 50/50 that he will start on thursday. If he does start. I can't see how that line can be very effective.
