Haslett appears to have players for his system and he is running the defense the way he wants. The Defense has been the lone bright spot through 4 games, especially considering how bad it was last year. The Skins are 3-1 because of the Defense and Haslett. Bad Rex and the Offense finish off a handful of drives against the Cardinals, Crackboys, and Rams and the Skins are 4-0 and none of the games are close.

Oh, I think he called a perfect game. I'm not bashing the D at all. I'm still just ticked off about losing to the Cowboys, really. I hate losing to the Cowboys.

Oh I understand, especially after watching the Lions come back and beat them today.

I will say it looks like we really did a bang up job with this draft, Kerrigan looks like the real deal.
I wonder how you feel about Romo's performance today?

The Lions offense is leaps and bounds better than ours.

I wasn't comparing the Skins offense with the Lions. More pointing out last week was a missed opportunity.

Agreed.

Romo didn't make dumb decisions like today either though. The Cowboys are such a hot-and-cold team, so hard to gauge them.

speaking of hot and cold teams, Atlanta has choked their massive lead against the seahawks.

Atlanta in good shape for now against the giants. Good sign.

3-1, what's not to love right now? Wasn't pretty but it's a W. We could be looking at 6-1 heading into Buffalo. Crazy...but the schedule gets tougher.

My 5-11 prediction isn't looking so hot anymore.

I'm willing to upgrade 5-11 to 6-10

Yeah I'll readjust my earlier prediction to 7-9, but that wouldn't allow them to draft Barkley/Jones. Yes I'm only thinking about draft position.

On the schedule; I can't see them beating the Eagles once, also see them losing to the Panthers. They'd probably also find a way to lose to either the Seahawks, Vikings or 49ers.

Already eating crow a quarter of the way in. Well, snack-sized crow at least.

They need a QB.

Almost every other position has made huge strides and gotten younger.

Shanahan isn't Zorn, Spurrier or even Gibbs with his HS offense. You're being cynical. They should win at least 3 of those.

Two things have happened that I said would be required for the perfect storm. They've gotten average or better QB play in all but 1 (maybe 2 games) and they've stayed healthy for the most part. Either of those two things change and it all falls apart quickly. Good stuff so far though.

Pretty much all of their games could go the other way. I gave them the benefit of the home field advantage coming off the bye against a struggling if not reeling Eagles team.

I have zero confidence they can contain a running QB, hence the Eagles and Panthers games. Probably beat the Seahawks, since well they suck. 49ers aren't a pushover, on that topic Carlos Rogers has played lights out, go figure. Vikings game would be dependent on if we can contain AP.

So yeah they can win 3 of those, I have my reservations they will.

You mean Vick? Newton isn't in his league. Rogers was always underrated by Skins fans but his drops became a liability and he developed a mental block.

Skins D is top 5 without him and tied for league lead in sacks.

I will take that. Crow for sure. I was very loud with my concerns about the talent levels on this team.

I am *still* not sold on anything more than mediocrity, but we are much better than *bad*, and have an outside chance to actually make the playoffs.

That said, we will still *not* win anything of substance until we get a better QB, as you have mentioned. Rex seems to actually get worse when the pressure is applied. Not better, but worse. Much worse, actually.

I for one would like to see what Beck can do. We may be winning, but it is in spite of the QB, not due to him.

The most important thing I have taken from the 3-1 start for the Skins is the young players contributing to the success of this team, with Kerrigan front and center. 3-1 is nice, but I'll take the positive play from the youngsters over wins anyday.

Also, Skins could go 4-8 just as easily as it can go 8-4 based on how they've played the last 3 games. If the Skins continue to not put teams away a lot of positive steps made to this point will be wasted.

The topic of the Skins nickname has been brought up recently by Mike Wise, and highlighted by Peter King in his MMQB column, and I was wondering what the regulars on here think about the Skins name?

Me personally, I won't be leading a rally to have it changed, but if it was i wouldn't mind. I am one of those people who feel the PC Police is out of control, but in this instance the name Redskins really shouldn't be the nickname for the most popular professional sport in the Nations Captial.

Possible solutions to the nickname, I like Tony Kornheiser's idea of putting a picture of a redskin potatoe on the side of the helmut, but Washington Warriors has a nice ring to it.
