A lot of Leafs fans are predicting that you guys will take this.

We're not exactly confident in our team.

Plus its looking like potentially Connolly, MacArthur, and Kadri are all out

And to top it all off, Komisarek is starting on the third pairing

It's a gift, don't blow it

I remember Buffalo saying the same thing about Connolly and he came out flying against the Habs last year.It wouldn't shock me to see Lombardi in their lineup, the Leafs are going to come out guns ablazing this season. They want to make the Playoffs badly and the Habs are definitely in their way.

It'll be a good test for the Habs. Leafs always give us fits on opening night. I they play like against Tampa, we'll win 4-1.

The weirdest thing is having my wife become a rabid hockey fan after 17 years together. We used to do the dinner-and-movie Saturday night thing; beginning last year, Saturday night became pub food and hockey game.

Downside? She actually has me planning a menu for Thursday night.

Biggest upside? A reasonable chance I can introduce a creative way to celebrate a blown call.

With the players the leafs have missing, there gonna have to use Lombardi. He has played 1 pre season game and 2 regular season games in 1 year. Can't see how effective he's gonna be.

3-1 #Habs!

Who score the first goal of the season for us? I wish it is Cole or Cammalleri

Since the Habs will be away for a stretch, it's important to start winning on the road. Otherwise, they'll be greeted with boos if they have an unsuccessful road trip. Besides, the Leafs are in their division.

Fact error : The Habs only play two games on the road before coming back home - This is not a stretch.

No words to explain this.
I know what you mean, there are weaknesses in our lineup right now at the NHL level. However:

Let's turn what you're saying 180 degrees:

Diaz: I am thrilled he was good enough to at least be considered a bottom pair starter. Never expected this. Really good news. Along with Yemelin, I can't remember the Habs having two rookies with such high potential on D the same year. Really happy about this. It even makes me gag a bit less about the loss of McDo.

Enqvist: Yes, he has not been that impressive, but the coaches and management must see something. He's a big guy, and he's still a raw rookie. But he likes playing defensively, and contrary to most on this board I think he may quietly become a highly effective shutdown centre. I may be wrong, but you guys may change your song on this guy by January.

Palushaj: This is the only guy I worry about. But this may be his only chance to show something, so let's see. You never know. He is under far more pressure than the Junior prospects. Let's give him 10 games, and see where he is. At least he'll get a good taste of NHL play, and he'll learn about responsible D play as well. We always complain that prospects never get a chance. Well, this is his chance. If we never try him, we'll never know.

Lombardi worries me. A montreal kid, extremely hard worker on and off the ice, and very nice guy apparently. I felt bad about his injuries and hope he recovers 100%, but I just wish he was in the west. If he's 100%, he's gonna be a constant pain in the ass for us. I wish we had picked him up...

Palushaj finished the camp strong, the last game in Quebec was by far his best one of the camp where he showed much more composure.. Diaz is another one who improved as the camp went on.. Im not sure he is ready defensively but I really like his transition game as well as his offensive creativity..

You have to love this place. LaPresse puts out a projected lineup 4 days before the opening game, yet some of you get your panties in a bunch for no reason at all. Do you really think that LaPresse has the Habs starting day lineup, when Martin said that he was giving his final lineup on Wednesday and that some would be making the team and some would NOT.

I'm hoping the speedy, in-control habs show up and wreck the leafs.

If we're on our game there's no question that we wreck them. If we're off our game it will be close.

Don't panic if we lose this game.

This is an 82 game grind and not a one week marathon like everyone in TO seems to believe.

I don't get why you fellows are worried about Palushaj in the lineup. Who else was going to take that spot while White(and possibly Moen) heals? He's our most NHL ready AHL guy. Leblanc could have had that spot but he's injured.

Is Blunden in the starting lineup?
