No way Couturier plays 4th line. That would be a bad move IMO. Playing 8 minutes a game in a defensive role will not be good for him or the team. Send him back to Juniors if that's the case.

At least these ones aren't as much of a shock. So Gus makes the team? Lilja 7th?

I can't believe people were arguing with me two days ago about the fact that he wasn't done. He served his purpose but it was time to turn the page and let better players take over.

8 minutes ES with PK time I believe is more beneficial than dominating his junior league for the fourth time. He would be the first to move up the line-up with injuries too. Which knowing the flyers will happen at least 30 times during the year

Bart didn't exactly improve his chances to stay on in camp but I think overall he hasn't had a fair shake with this organization. Another D prospect we sour on. We sure know how to develop them...

Who makes up for the loss of Powe and Richards?

With Betts, Walker, Bart and Leights last week being waived, does that mean both Schenn and Couturier mads the team to start the season?

I don't know. I'm not sold on him playing on the PK just yet. He played well defensively, no doubt. But I'm just not sure if I want him out there on a PK against the Ovechkins, Malkins, Sedins, etc. I have no problem with Couturier making this team and playing on the third line (either at the expense of Schenn, which I don't think will be the case or moving Schenn or Couturier to wing) and getting limited PK/PP fill in duties, but I think putting him on the fourth line and counting on him as a full time PK guy is a bad move for the team and his development.

According to Timmeh, Schenn won't start in the NHL. If I had to make an assumption, this also means Courturier gets a few games.

All good news. To me, this shows that Holmgren has the balls to waive Shelley and admit his mistake when he is no longer suspended. Bring in the young guys .

If that is the end result, then I am 100% fine with Betts being waived. I don't love the cap room, but I like the lineup. If we have more then one injury though we are screwed.

I have a feeling though that the plan might be to put Couts in Schenns spot for 9 games and then send him to Juniors. We of course need to keep cap space for Shelly.

SO what happens if Couts plays well and forces the Flyer's hand to keep him up all year? What does that mean for Schenn who will be down in the AHL for the first 9?

Without the retarded penalty we would have a really strong team this year. But I don't think the flyers can ice a team having $22,000 in space.

Does it matter how many times you send and recall a player? In the event of a serious injury, It means we have to send someone down to bring someone who is on the minimum wage up.

I guess that Rinaldo and Gustafsson would not HAVE to be carried and could be brought up when an injury happens. One thing it does allow is to have both the 13th forward and 7th D to be assignable.

Ditto. Last year he severely declined in FO%, something I value hugely in a 4th line center. I just don't think he has it anymore. Good luck to Blair, I enjoyed what he brought to the team the last few seasons but this was a good move with the team getting younger.

I just don't see how Schenn starting in the AHL will help his development. Comparisons get made to when this happened with Giroux, but their style of play is so different.

Hopefully he's just sent down until Lappy gets placed on LTIR
