I think that's a different Bickel. Wait.. It isn't. Whoever wrote that tweet wrote it kind of confusing.

Sauer must be ready and Staal must be close enough to not worry about him missing 2 games?
Or there is another move coming... I'm a little confused...
Unless it's Brian Bickel? And did Mark Bell get a contract anywhere this year
Even if both Staal and Sauer were ready, it would be very strange to only go with 6 D. Especially now that there is enough cap space with Avery waived.

Something stinks here...either there's something we don't know about Staal's injury and he's coming back sooner than expected, or there's some sort of move or signing imminent. I'm betting the latter.
THIS move - meh, not that confusing if you think about it. This clearly means good things as regards the team's injury situation. But it likely also means a move. Also, just because they're waived doesn't mean they're going down, right?
My guess is that Sauer is good to go, Staal is progressing well and they've brought in a veteran D. Bickel and/or Bell will stay through the European trip and then go down when the team comes back to N.A.
Oh yeah, it is possible for both of those players to be waived and still play with the Rangers. Maybe they feel it is the best time for them to be waived and they can slip them through better now than they can in a week or 2.

My prediction? McCabe is being brought back.
I said the same thing back a few posts ago--but how could he be ready for opening night--he hasn't practiced with anyone since the end of the season.
thinking about it for a bit...
maybe the rangers went to europe with the idea that avery could make the team. but they found a last minute deal for a defenseman that they needed cap space for and avery with the bigger contract and all was the obvious choice to get waived...
something had to change in the rangers thinking because the moves are a bit out of character...
they could have had weise or hagelin or newbury as the 13th forward ...all would have been better choices and cheaper than christensen...maybe thats because they didnt plan on christensen being #13...
Guys, just because a player is waived doesn't mean they have to be sent down immediately........
It lasts for 30 days. The player can be sent down without having to go through waivers in the next 30 days.
The Rangers will not be carrying both Bickel and Bell, or possibly neither once Staal is back. Today is the day to try and slip players through waivers as teams are mainly set by the end of training camp. 20 days into the season a team may have had a serious injury and may take a stab in the dark on either of these players.
