Not unless you're planning on inserting someone pretty important in that blank spot.

What's Kuba's status? I recon he would be a decent option.

I doubt we can sign anyone who has played in Europe this season, not 100% though.

Forsberg could return to COL after playing in Europe.

I would take Franson or Gunnarsson for sure.

Tall and lanky he still needs to fill out a little bit as he is young but he has a cannon from the point. Played in Nashville last season, very surprised they moved him to begin with.

If he is truly going to be the 7th d-man for the Leafs I would think he would be fairly cheap too.

If its Franson, that would be a great pick up. Fine young two-way guy, who can really play. Would be an excellent with our guys; not as good a fit with Toronto. The only issue is that he is young and we already have a young D.

Leslie have you heard that name being thrown around? He would make the most sense honestly. I doubt he costs a whole lot.

Damn right it better happen quickly Torts. If the guy doesnt get over there in a day or 2 he is going to be jet lagged to start the season. Not a good first impression on his new teammates or his coaches.

Franson not happy in Toronto

Quote:
"Right now I'm not too thrilled with it," Franson said of where he's at. "You've got to just, I don't know, stick with it. It's a tough situation. We've got some good players here. Be interesting to see how it turns out."

Leafs take EC and a pick for Franson?

could work - EC would actually increase the skill set on the Leafs.

Especially with Connoly out already I wonder if they want more center depth to start the season.

Kadri is out as well.

Why would they trade Franson after just acquiring him?

I don't know. Myself, I wouldnt be looking for a guy who is the 7th d-man on the leafs.

He should be playing over Komisarek easily. The Leafs problem is that they have Gardiner who they want to play, Liles who isn't amazing defensively and Phaneuf.

Add in Gunnarsson who is more of a puck-mover and its difficult for another puck-mover to get time, especially when Phaneuf and Liles will be on the #1 PP unit.

He was in Nashville's top-6 last year and they did pretty well both in the regular season and the playoffs. He would be a significant upgrade over Eminger, Bell and Bickel, that's for sure.

I think if Burke was to move a dman, it'd be Gunnarsson or, if possible, Komisarek.

While it'd be easier to move Franson, he's a young guy and I think Burke wants to see what he can do in the system as he's got a lot of potential still.
