Dumb question but shouldn't that really be a double play? I understand the reasoning about it not, but come on........

Too bad Charlie didn't make a double switch when he changed pitchers.

Interesting umpiring this postseason throughout the entire MLB...

I'm pretty sure you can't assume a DP, especially when it was originally ruled a hit and then overturned.

Didnt see much of the game, I was listening to the last 1.5 innings. I was so fired up with Frantzke call of the double play.

No sleight against Dick Stockton or Bob Brenly, but having no emotion on the commentary is driving me bonkers

The thing is that he DID double him off without a doubt and not even close -- runner sanding on second base at the time -- so if it was ruled caught, it had to be a DP... But I understand that the change in decision changed all that... fair or not fair.

If the Thrashers don't deserve a hockey team, I don't see how the Marlins or Rays deserve a baseball team. Game 4 of the ALDS looked damn near empty at the Trop tonight.

Nice team win and now we need one more... with Oswalt and if needed Doc on the hill AT HOME. Looks pretty good to me.

Really need to start hitting better. The Cards are also getting all the dink and bloop hits and we're getting nothing.

Yeah, pretty good chance that the runner would go from halfway to back at first if the umpire ruled an out. But he ruled it hit the ground so the runner went from halfway to second. Thus, the outcome was likely the same as if the initial ruling was correct.

I apologize... they never touched First Base to double him up anyway... I didn't see that before now.

I'll take a road win, but I'll keep it in perspective.

Phils probably score 0 runs if it weren't for a lucky Ben Fran HR. I love how TLR got a bit of karma biting him in the ass after what he pulled game 2, but the offense as a whole is slumping again, and I wouldn't count on Ben Fran being a hero again. Was that due to them facing a guy who has good numbers against them? Partly, but they didn't do anything against their pen again, and the Phils pen nearly gave it away.

On a brighter note, Cole got a deserved win. Here's hoping RoyO keeps pitching like he has been lately and the bats wake up.

If they end up winning this series, I think they are winning the WS. I think this will be their toughest test.

Good point, Dude... when ump made call the runner kept going. And that I guess is why they can't assume a DP in any case... ump disrupted play with bad call.

While I agree with you that Ben wont be a hero again, but inorder to win any championship in any sport you have to have unlikely heroes. It's the playoffs, the theory is survive and advanced. i would like them to start scoring more but as you mentioned they were facing a guy who had owned them and they found a way to win. Good teams find ways to win.

Lots of funky 'ifs' in a short series decide who wins or not. Just need to keep yourself in a good spot until they happen. Cole matched Garcia where it mattered for as long as he could. Bullpen leaves some to be desired, but I didn't like the way it was managed. Keep guys in roles. If Worley is the 7th inning guy, then take him out regardless and put in Lidge/Bastardo.
