"Dallas Stars: Somehow, they keep losing three or four close games every year thanks to late-game meltdowns by Tony Romo."

I lol'd

"Edmonton Oilers: Returning fan favourite Ryan Smyth is known as "Captain Canada" for a reason, although if we're being honest that reason is that "Captain Seems To Be Available For The World Championships Every Single Season" is kind of long."

harsh but true

someone should start a prediction thread for how many points the oilers will get this season, if there already wasn't one done.

I would like to make sure that everyone knows that some of these are propaganda and to not take it too seriously.

The Edmonton Journal article is hugely biased toward the completion of the arena. The journalist uses oppinion and scare tactics to form an opinion in its readership. For example, in the article "Pressure builds to OK arena" Joddie Sinnema says things like "An NHL team is not sustainable in Edmonton without a new arena, since the current one is one of the oldest and smallest in Canada." We all know that's ********, and she obviously has no evidence to back any of this up. Pure conjecture.

The title itself is used to push an opinion, and throughout the article it reminds the reader that one can write to city hall and local politicians to voice "concern" about the arena project. The Journal is using its readers to push the concerns of a private entity.

I'm not really for or against the arena, but everyone should be aware this exists across the Edmonton media, and it is pure propaganda.

She's just repeating what the Katz Group is saying. Besides, pro and anti-arena propaganda is prevalent in the local media.

Read the SUN for the latter.
