IDK the Phillies pen at this point in time scares me... They need the starters to pitch complete games and not be in the position where they have to be hit for... ie need to score more runs earlier than these last couple games .

That's fine if you have trusted guys for 7 and 8 and a closer... I don't mind Worley, Blanton or Kendrick (he is on roster, right? haha) going multiple innings... and plug in Basardo, Lidge and Stutes in situations when they fail.

Ben and Cole together in post game presser... Shy Guy and Cali Dude... never mistaken for Macho Row Guys.

Love them both tonight though... came through like heroes do.

AJ Burnett: 3 walks in the first inning.

This Cardinals lineup is just as good the Brewers imo. Im not saying that the Brewers cant beat them but to me this short series scares me the most.

Its been scaring me for the last month, but so far it is working(fingers crossed) . Scoring more runs would be very nice.

yeah... at least a month now... but it has worked enough to win 104 games -- the 8 straight loses were not on them as much as no hit/sloppy fielding and other non-caring play.

Early on Charley and Rubin had it honed down to young arms that were clutch... then it blew up.

Larussa always looks baked out of his mind, and Berkman kinda looks like Derian Hatcher.

I think Oswalt goes 7 in game 4 and dazzles. He's been on fire the last month or so it would seem. I hope the bats can come alive again against Carpenter

Jackson is pitching tomorrow. Unless that changed recently.

No way that Carpenter comes in on two days rest. It's Jackson unless they want Lohse to go on short rest. Good thing Blanton is on the roster, he knows how to hit Jackson.

The team is basically built for 8 shutout innings from the starters, and hope the offense can score 3 or more. Needing 3 innings or more from the pen and more than 3 runs of offense is pushing it.

I agree, ideally we would like to get 8 out of them but I would be fine with having to get 4-6 outs from the pen. 3 innings is too much torture. i think a combination of Bastardo/Lidge/Madson could work.

I'd rather face the Brewers lineup. They have a lot of power, but they seem to swing and miss a lot and have poor at bats. I think our pitchers would be very effective against them. The Cardinals lineup, on the other hand, doesn't know what a poor at bat is.

I was at the Cardinals game last night and I wore a Phillies hat. Look at what happened to my car when I got out of the game.

This looks just as believable as the previously posted photo to me.

Hopefully Oswalt comes out throwing heat. When his fastball velocity is up he's a much better pitcher.

It needs to be 91-93. The more important part is the 'movement','life', etc. on his fastball. The hitters on the Cardinals LOVE first pitch fastballs as we've seen, and they're going to be extremely aggressive the first time through the order. Having some of that late movement is going to be extremely important for Oswalt. Then his offspeed pitches can give them fits as well.

It was pretty traumatic. I was going to wear my Philly Phanatic costume that I bought, but security wouldn't let me so instead I just wore a Phillies hat and this is what happened.
