Yep. He's essentially Boyd Gordon.

If we picked him up I would honestly boo him every time he is on the ice. Hate him almost as much as Bertuzzi

One of the main things this team has going for it is the locker room. A huge ****ing no to Sean Avery!!!!!!

Jut wanted to point something out. I know a lot of people have been critical of this team and particularly Mike Smith and the goaltending situation. I went and pulled up some stats from the preseason so far....

Ilya Bryzgalov: 55 saves for 62 shots for a .887 Save %

Mike Smith: 65 save for 70 shots for a .929 Save %

I KNOW this is preseason and all those variables, but Dave Tippett's system makes netminders look better.

Yes we did face more shots, but its the quality of the shots that matter.

We will be a competitive team this year and in the playoff race. Not saying we are a Cup Contender by any means, but all this talk about us being a lottery team is a little ridiculous to me.

We will absolutely compete, DT won't have it any other way. But I'd be willing to bet you that we will not be in the playoff run, although as I write this I don't actually believe myself; I'm not sure what that means.

I do expect this team to be a bit meaner, maybe even noticeably more physical.

It is an odd feeling as a fan. I mean you look at it on paper and there is just no way in hell this team should be in the hunt for the playoffs but the same was said about the past two years. You're right, it's like Tippet simply won't accept anything else. I expect this team to be more like the one 2 years ago, they won't be as fast but should be more physical and will be a total ***** to play against.

Harder to play, but easier to defeat. Out scored but not out worked.

I don't know about easier to defeat, I don't think the forward crop is going to make or break the team, it's all going to come down to the D and G. Without getting too nuanced, I see about 9 possibilities here.

Playoffs and win a series:
D excels, Smith excels

Playoffs:
D excels, Smith average
D average, Smith excels

Contend for playoffs:
D excels, Smith sucks
D average, Smith average
D sucks, Smith excels

No playoffs:
D average, Smith sucks
D sucks, Smith average

Lottery:
D sucks, Smith sucks

Noticed the Town Hall segment on the Coyotes site but still no Roster update, that I thought would have been announced today?

Hey, a few quick questions. How has OEL looked so far this preseason? Is Tippet going to increase his ice time to where he can contribute offensively or will he still be in/out of the line-up?

I'm in a salary cap pool (60 million) and he's worth 1 million. Can he take the next step an produce 25 - 30 pts?

Thanks for your insight.

Tippett said that besides Yandle, OEL has been the best Dman in preseason and training camp. Ice time will definitely be up....especially with Powerplay time as well.

Watched Chipchura's sixteen fights over the last year and a half. Didn't realize that he was actually a decent middle weight. Explains why Bandit has been an advocate of his. I always thought of him as a plumber who would drop them now and again just to stay relevant. Really, he fights once every five or ten games and actually let's the fists fly. He's no hugger, and he manages to do okay for himself.

I have to say, I am surprised. I do see value in having a guy around to fight the smaller players Biz won't touch because of that ridiculous "code". If he can also PK, take draws, and skate a semi-regular shift, well that's just all the better.

Is today the deadline for the final cuts? Does the Coyotes still have to cut anyone or is the roster set? I have been away and no access to a computer so I'm a little behind with info.

So, what will our lines be?

Doan/Langkow/Whitney
Pyatt/Hanzal/Vrbata
Sully/Korpi/Boedker
Torres/Gordon/Chip/Biz/Noke

Yandle/Morris
OEL/Klesla
Aucoin/Rozi

I didn't like Pyatt with Hanzal and Vrbata line. They make a big line, but a very slow line as well, I would say our old man line is faster than the Pyatt line. Our fourth line is solid though. Looking at our line up right now, it really doesn't look that bad (using Coyotes standards); the only change I'd make would be to add another offensive center/winger that would remove Pyatt from our roster.

Our defense is old. If we can somehow move Rozi or Morris for a mean mother****er that would be great. A meaner, bigger, slightly quicker player would make our defense one of the best in the NHL.

Seems we were wrong. Heater(?) just said on 910 that our fourth line will be Biz/Gordon/Chip.

So Torres will be on our third line. Which means someone is going to be scratched that we thought was going to play.

So who is it? Boedker is the obvious choice, but Sully or even Pyatt are possibilities. Or, Heater is wrong, but I doubt that.

Boedker will be the one receiving the most scratches and games with very few minutes this season unless he is by far, the best player on the ice every minute he gets the first month of the season imo.
