Jakub Voracek (mod edit: jersey number changed to 93)

What's the been the deal with him thus far? I have big expectations on him this season. He's on a contract year, new contending team in the East, possibly playing with Czech legend Jagr..but based on my research he seems like he's been under the radar through out training camp and pre-season..

Can anyone give some insight on what to expect from him this year? First unit on PP?

He will either be a 50 point player or finally break into a 70 point player. I'm leaning towards the former.

50 points for his price is awesome.

I'm thinking 20-25 goals and 30-35 assists for 50-60 points.

I think that his point production will be less than it COULD be because the Flyers will FORCE him to forcus on his defensive play a little more and make himself a better 2-way player so he's not a liability on the ice. We've done this consistantly will ALL our young players who don't seem to have a good 2-way game when they get here (Carter, JVR and Nodl just to name a few).

he was all over the ice in the preseason, creating chances and making some really nifty plays with the puck. he just didn't put up the numbers. tough to tell where he'll finish this year. he'll make ville leino's absence less noticeable.

He had a team-high 14 shots, hit the post/crossbar (IIRC) at least twice and was stoned by Brodeur once. The shots were there.

By the way, he will wear #93 this season.

It might sound ridiculous but I am predicting 80 pts for him this season. He looked like a man among boys in the first 2 pre-season games and then was on a different line every night with less ice time. I would assume he had less time due to youngsters trying to get a roster spot. He has all the skills to be an elite player, and his workout regime this summer leaves me to believe he is going to absolutely kill it. For those saying he is a defensive liability obviously haven't watched the pre-season games because he was all over the place and was creating turnovers and pushing people off the puck.

He has the size to protect the puck, the puck skills to keep it, the speed to break away and the vision to find open sticks. He is a completely deadly player and his low point totals in Columbus are apparently due to being "out of shape" and being relied on too much. He's already said hes super focused on having a great year, and that is what's going to happen.

Book it.

I didn't think he looked bad on D in the exgames I saw. He made a really excellent backcheck once, good hustle and point coverage generally.

Agree on 50-60 points, but he needs to develop great chemistry with Briere to go any higher.

I've been a fan of Voracek since before he came in the league, and I actually wanted us to draft him. I see him having at least 50 points but I'd guess 55 to 60 with 70 being his ceiling.

Like Jagr he's looked avg

Actually unlike Jagr (who looked very good) he's looked slightly above avg but want to see more. I will be annoyed if he doesn't pot at least 50 pts and even that I'm not crazy about b/c he clearly has the potential for more.

Not fond of him sporting a number in the 90's considering Zherdev's bad kharma....

This.

He's also a lot stronger on the puck than I imagined he would be.

He was a freak on the puck in preseason. He dropped two players while holding the puck. Scary strength. His defensive play was unbelievable too. Could this be his breakout year?

I wondered why he was #9 in the first place.
