Rebuttal suggestions against a Leaf fan

A guy I play hockey with posted the following message on FB. What would your response to him be?

"You know what the best part about habs fans is? They ignore the part of history where the habs have NOT won a Stanley Cup in 19 years and have been bowing out of the playoffs early ever since.
Is bragging about winning most of their cups against 5 other teams 50ish years ago somehow more dignified than a BIGGER fan base who sticks with their side (and continues to sell out games in lean years)? At least the Yankees don't dwell in the past."

LEAF:

Losers Even After Forty (years)

Tell him he can talk when they make the playoffs for the first time in what? A decade or so?

Wait, them going to the conference finals in 2009-2010 was bowing out of the playoffs early?

oh hab vs leaf arguments, I'm in them almost daily considering almost all my buddies are leaf fans i always get the, ' at least our fans don't riot' speech

just tell him whats wrong with celebrating the 10 we have won since the leafs won their last 1, instead of all 24

and if he really has the balls to compare recent successes when was the last time leafs went further than habs in playoffs?

The guy does a pretty good job of putting down the Leafs himself.

The yankees dont have names on their jerseys because they remember how it was before. If this were the reverse he would praising the amount of cups the leafs would have won, however, it is not the case and:

Leafs and Jets/Coyotes are the only teams with at least a 30 year history and no trip to the Stanley Cup finals since the first expansion in 1967. That's some lotta failure. Results speak for themselves.

Leaf fans complain, and that's fine. They're right to an extent, but at same time, when there was only 6 teams, we constantly beat you. Now, 100 years after our franchise was created, we're making the playoffs and they haven't made playoffs since lockout. Yeah, we may live in the past, but they don't have to. Their present and future is just as bad as their past.

That being said, I want them to be competitive because it's a fun rivalry, but facts are facts.

Tell him at least when we saw the Habs win the cup in 1993 on TV, we saw it in color.

It's pretty pathetic when Leafs fans compare themselves to the Yankees. Both have obnoxious fans, but only one wins championships.

It's no surprise Leafs fans don't like others to "dwell on the past." When you haven't been to a finals or won a single major player award since the NHL had 6 teams you sort of need to look forward not backward to avoid the pain.

The best reply would be using his argument against himself.

"Gotta make the playoffs first before you can bow out early."

Tell him you don't "beleaf" in their chances this year, just like the past ten years.

The *Maple Laugh* will suck again this year.

In Vancouver I recently saw an ad that was going something like this "It's on sale, grab it quick! Quick like Toronto post season!"

It's funny he mentions all the Cups Montreal won before the expansion, how many have the Leafs won since the expansion?

Habs have won 10 cups since expansion.

The numbers were 14-13 for Montreal in 1967 when the league expanded.

10 cups is double what the next best team has won since expansion. (Edmonton 5)

Yup... our franchise only has glory from a 6 team league... we've never done anything since expansion.

I love when fans of other team's bring up the all your cups are from a 6 team league argument.

You should just feel sorry for him. No point in rubbing it in his face anymore, its tough enough being a loser for so long.

There is no longer any joy for me in bashing them, stealing candy from a baby is actually harder.
