Dubinsky-Richards-Gaborik to start Friday

Caught this little blurb on Facebook. Posted 30 minutes ago.

Quote:
Coach Tortorella says Brandon Dubinsky will start on left wing with Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik on Friday. Torts went on to say he will, "start the game this way, see where it goes."

Was surprised not to see it on here.

Anyway, who gets the 2nd line spot? The good money has gotta be on Wolski. Any other thoughts?

Wolski is playing 3rd line with Steps & Zucc

Feds is playing on the pack line.

Yeah, missed those practice lines somehow.

I have a feeling our lines, in terms of ice time, are not 1-2-3-4, but rather 1-2a-2b-4. I'm fine with that.

Not a fan of Fedotenko getting top six minutes.

Wolski working his way down in a hurry.

Should have waived him/traded him when decent defensemen were available on the market.

But hindsight is always 20/20.

What if we're talking about middle 6 minutes instead of top 6? Does that make you more comfortable with Fedotenko's ice-time?

Fedotenko is a bottom six player, ideally.

Suddenly that second line doesn't look as great as it used to.

Fedotenko makes sense with Stepan and Zuccarello giving them some physicality and defense.

We have enough to worry about defensively with Staal out indefinitely. We need a turnover line, too?

Dubinsky. Richards. Gaborik
Wolski. Anisimov. Callahan
Fedotenko. Stepan. Zuccarello
Rupp. Boyle. Prust

Makes more sense.

And/or get Boyle more ice time.

But I digress.

Could be Wolski's groin is still sore and he's being demoted to keep back some minutes

no big deal though

Awesome! Those are exactly my lines in NHL 12 except I flip flop Feds and Wolski on the 2nd and 3rd line. Torts thank you for seeing the light and not putting Wolski in the top3. While I love the pack line, I think its more beneficial to the team to have a killer first line...

Also for people not happy with Feds on the 2nd line....you guys arent at practice everday, maybe Torts sees more chemistry there...I would just have a wait and see attitude because we all know if that line doesnt produce hes going to move things around.

As much as I hate seeing the pack line broken up I'm glad they're giving Dubi a shot as the 1st line LW, hope he takes that chance and runs with it. But knowing Torts he'll be back on the pack line by the 2nd period lol. Would also rather see Feds on the 3rd line and WW on the 2nd instead.

I assume Erixon will take Bell's spot friday.

So basically Wolski-Step-Zuccarello is our fourth line? There's no way they get more ice time than Prust-Boyle-Rupp.

Well, it's a good thing Dubinsky played with Richards and Gaborik all pre-season.

Don't be so harsh on Torts. Really, 16 minutes man? Enough is enough about Tortorella with the line changing. That said, it will take at least 18 minutes...

I am fine with Dubi on the top line but why did he not play there in the preseason. Torts is a weirdo

Wolski should be on a top line but Stepan and Zuke are offensive so lets see what happens

that looks more like a line 2A and 2B instead of 2 and 3

No doubt everybody will get their shot. I think dubi is a better match for 1st line that wolski

Had a feeling Wolski wouldn't be starting the season on the 1st line. Maybe it's just his groin, but after hearing about how hard he worked during the offseason and that he's a changed man, I wasn't so impressed with him in the preseason.

Wolski-Step-Zuccs worked towards the end of last season. Dubi has actually looked half effective on the top line in preseason while Wolski hasn't at all. I think these lines are fine for now.

Pretty much what I expected would happen, although sooner than I thought. Dubi is just a better fit with those guys. He brings grit that is needed to that trio.

I hope Wolski can prove that he belongs some where in the line up. The absence of Staal means every player is going to have raise their game. Tort's will have even less patience for those who disappear during a shift.

If Wolski can't make a case for himself, he and Christenson are redundant.
