The Canucks will then sign the Sedins to long term deals as well as re-signing Trevor Linden for 800,000.
I'm not against this ideas. But if the Canucks have to get rid of Jovanovski, I think i'd rather they traded Bertuzzi or Morrison. If you have Sakic you don't need Morrison anymore.

I still wouldn't be against the idea of getting rid of Cloutier either to free up some cap space. Maybe trade Morrison in a deal for a goalie like Toskala and hope either Auld or him would be ready to become a starting goalie. Agree about re-signing Linden, dump Carter, keep Park. Bring back Chubarov.

Naslund, Sakic, Bertuzzi
D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Park/Goren/King
Cooke, Kesler, Goren/Park/Linden/King
Ruutu, Chubarov, Linden/Goren/King

Jovanovski, Allen
Ohlund, Bourdon
McCarthy, Salo

Auld, Toskala

Brookbank, King, Bieksa

If the Cap went up to about $41-42 million, i'd like to see something like that. I wouldn't be against trading Bertuzzi and maybe getting a new head coach if they stink it up in the playoffs this year again either.

I think the TSN story mentioned that Colorado saves $700,000 in cap room because of this. While not a sizable amount, it does give them some wiggle room come the trade deadline. Smart move by Lacroix. (Although Colorado doesn't have the bevy of prospects to offer up like in years past).

In the end, Sakic, the best player in Nordique/Avalanche history, stays in Denver to finish his HHOF career. Sorry, Canuck fans, but if we think Burnaby Joe is coming to B.C. to finish his career, we're dreaming.

Actually, Colorado has a ton of very impressive prospects, most notably all forwards.

True, they did very well at the 05 draft. 3 good prospects in the 2nd round.

You're right, those are the only two on the current Avalanche roster.

The prospects, including the likes of Stoa, Stastny, Hensick, Richardson, Durand and others, is absolutely fine.

Right on. I look at those prospects like a kid outside a candy store. I'm thinking that the Canucks should draft a bunch of offensive prospects like that this year, with their extra picks (at last).

I'd rather we trade our #30th overall , 3 2nds, 2 3rds to move up to the #2-#5 spots.

Colorado has one of the weakest all around prospect systems in the entire league.

According to whom?

The all-knowing staff here at HockeysFuture?

All I know is that every single year, we pump out two or three rookies onto our pro club. Last year, it was John-Michael Liles and Marek Svatos. This year, it's Peter Budaj and Wojtek Wolski.

Call it whatever you want, but I call that prospect development efficiency.

Again, I put little to zero stock in what these so-called experts think, because the results don't lie and the Avalanche get their prospects to the show.

And right now the Avs are 4th in the div., near last in the conf.

I dont' deny the Avs have a knack of finding gems, but 2nd rounders are 2nd rounders for a reason and you'll need at least some time before we can say the picks this year were good.

I didn't know Stanley Cups were won and lost in October.

You might miss the Rangers celebration parade tomorrow.

I thought you once said that Wolski gave you indications that the Colorado franchise didn't appreciate him and he was going to be traded.

What triggered Lacroix's sudden interest?

theres no way in hell I'd say a ton, but yes they do have some solid prospects. If you go back a year before the 05 draft it was almost laughable at how little they had, but they did very well for themselves at the recent draft.

And I still receive those indications.

I'd imagine that seeing the NHL's highest goal-scorer of the last two years get injured made his decision to keep an offensively-minded Wojtek at least 10 games with the big club.

I'd be willing to wager any amount of money that Wojtek is sent down to Brampton within a week's time.

Again, who CARES how "sexy" the prospects look and what other people think of them?

The Avalanche have 2 or 3 rookies make the team every year, and continue to do despite seemingly barren prospect pools.

...and many get tossed to the side like so much stuff. Martin Skoula. Ville Nieminen. Phil Sauvé.

Nobody's denying the Colorado has an incredible ability to draft offensive players, but they have never had to replace from within a guy like Forsberg or Sakic, and I think it's optimistic to believe a handful of 2nd- and 3rd-rounders will do it.

The Canucks have stocked up alot of draft picks this year. I'd like to see them try and move up and get a top 5 pick as well.

BTW, What year and round pick did we give up to get McCarthy?

Is his ability not evident after those four games?

The Dallas Stars had your line of thinking too, go ask Marty Turco how that worked out.
