Hope that report doesn't mean that MacLean cleared!

EDIT: Claimed by the Jets. COME ON Sens.

I hope Calgary re-claims this guy. No reason he should be on waivers.

MacLean claimed by the Jets.

Phoenix (the organization, not the fans), if you're not going to develop young players, just trade your draft picks away for roster players. At least that way, you'll get the "veterans" you so clearly covet in exchange for the picks you can't seem to develop, and you won't end up giving away the youth you clearly don't know what to do with.

I really, really feel for Coyotes fans. First the ownership situation, and now due to the shaky ownership, a management group that can't decide if it's icing a veteran team, a young team, or seem to have any direction going forwards or any clue what their identity will be in the future.

As an Expos fan (or should I say, an "ex-Expos fan"... screw you, Washington Nationals), I can see clear parallels between my Expos downfall and what's happening right now in the desert. No clear leadership = a mess.

Nystrom being waived is a shocker to me. At a $1.4M cap hit and being signed through next season I don't know if he'll get any interest. That second year is what could make teams shy away.

The only team I can see claiming him on the way down is the Islanders for obvious reasons. Unfortunately I don`t think they could sell 400k worth of Nystrom jerseys in order to justify it.

Yeah, Nystrom didn't deserve this.

I understand this is a business decision, but he's being told to not attend practice with the team - really weird move by the organization.

Edited for accuracy.

If the Isles pick up Nystrom, they need to sign Justin Bourne on principle.

He(nystrom) didnt have the strongest camp but I am still shocked. I was hoping he would turn it around. There might be a move in the works or as some speculate Kassian will make the team.

Yes, obviously we are thin on the left side. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/nyi/depthchart

Disgusting when something like this happens. A player signs a contract in good faith and this is what happens. Hopefully all contracts will have automatic NMC next year so GM's can't treat players and their families like this.

Sure, all contracts with NMC's and 10 million dollar signing bonuses, right?

That would be a nice gesture at least.

No thanks! He bolted the Flames over $100,000 a year (Calgary offered him a 3 year, $3.9 million contract.)

I think he just found out the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Source?

I do hope that he gets picked up by some team. LOVED him when he was with Calgary.

Yeah, "a nice gesture." Kinda like giving a kid a lollipop at the dentist's office. I've got to hand it to you, at least you're consistent with your ridiculous assertions of what players should be entitled to.

It's got nothing to do with that. My point is that their is only one team that would have any reason to pick him up and it still wouldn't be worth it. Way to pull a strawman argument though.

Yes there is; he's getting paid twice as much as he's worth.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Flames were not willing to go any higher than 2 years, $2.4 million. And even that would've been an overpayment.

Exactly. Isles don't need another 4th liner now, but if he'd been waived a week ago I think they would've claimed him.

From watching him I don't think he's worth more than $800k, but maybe he just had the worst year possible and would bounce back. I'd say he didn't fit, but that would imply he would fit elsewhere. Not really a speedy crasher and banger, more of a defensive specialist, but no hands to add any scoring...looked a lot like an AHL call up for the most part.

Great guy and I'd love to see him latch on with another team...
