Proposal Mtl San jose

I know some of you may get offended by this trade but some of you will agree with me. here it goes:

To san jose: Koivu ,Rivet,Sundstrom, 4th round pick

to Mtl: Patrick Marleau, Kyle Mclaren, 3rd round pick

In my mind, this trade solvesa few problems:
- Get a strong #1 center not as skilled as koivu but stronger
- acquired a left physical D-man while getting rid of a right D-man
- getting rid of sundstrom for addoitionnal roster spot

Lines:
Perrault-Marleau-Ryder
hossa- Ribeiro- Zednick
Bulis- Juneau-dackell
Langdon-kilger-Bégin

Markov-Brisebois
Souray-Quintal
Mclaren-Komisarek!

We get a minor improvement up front but get a major upgrade at defeNSE. gREAT teams are built around defense(Ottawa,New jersey)

Thats why a thought of this trade
done or pass?

Marleau is a steep downgrade from Koivu and McLaren is a right D. Quintal or Rivet does the same job McLaren does, McLaren is just nastier. I don't see how this trade helps us at all. Besides Komi is on the way.

The rebuilding SJ Sharks do not want to get older and more expensive. That's what they're doing in this deal.

Montreal wouldn't be interested in moving Koivu in a deal like this, I don't think.

Wrong. McLaren is a left D. Don't you remember where he was on the ice when he tried to take Zed's head off 2 years ago?

I like Marleau a lot as he's big, fast and talented, but SJ would never do that deal. They're rebuilding (around Marleau). Koivu who's oft-injured will not be able to get this kind of package in return. Better keep Koivu and aim a little lower for a big 2nd line C if we ever find out that it's not working with the present elements in place.

Fair trade but useless.

I also think this is a fair value trade however like others have said I don't think SJ would be willing. For a couple of reasons...They are rebuilding and Sundstrom came from SJ last year I don't think SJ is looking at re-acquiring him. How about this trade Rivet Koivu Kilger and a 2nd for McLaren Marleau and Thornton???

After the hit on Zednik, I am sure that neither Zednik nor do I ever want to see this guy on the habs.

Marleau will never provide the MOXY that Koivu gives us...
and losing Sundstrom would nix the Hackett deal, which we still came out smelling like roses (IMHO)
