Isn't posting this poll in "The Rink" subforum like preaching to the choir?

he's looking to see which people on the main board play hockey. in this subforum doesn't EVERYONE play hockey? won't really give any new info. imo it's kinda like if someone came to a university to find out how many people were good at math, but then you forced that person to only talk to math department students.

idk /shrug

Started about a year ago and have played twice a week every week since then.

Myself and a couple guys from my instructional class started our own D level league in Chicago. Wish my family had the funds when I was younger to play b/c I always loved the sport, but could not play until I could afford it. Here is our league website:

I've only ever played men's league & pond hockey, but yes I play. I wish I played organized hockey as a kid, I'd probably be pretty sick at this point.

Skating since I'm ten hockey way later which is a shame. Playing in a so called beer league just for fun, right handed defender who just has a hard time loading up a decent one timer :-)

Yeah they do. Michigan has a D I team and an ACHA D II club team, as do a number of other schools, I believe.

Nobody plays DI and DIII though, as far as I know. Pretty sure you're either one or the other.

Started 3/4 years ago. Love it. Have been consistently on ice 2-3 times a week, winter and summer, ever since.

Wish I had started as a kid. Partly cause I'd be better than I am. But mainly because I wish I had more years playing the game and having fun.

ACHA (Amercian Collegiate Hockey Association) is club hockey, so it doesn't matter. You can't be NCAA DI and DIII, which is clearly what the other guy is talking about, since he's talking about scholarships, and there are no scholarships for ANY division of ACHA hockey, even ACHA DI. Michigan is NCAA DI and ACHA DII, the ACHA team is a club team. The ACHA still offers good, competitive hockey, but there's no scholarships, no chance to be scouted, etc. The best ACHA DI teams are on par with good NCAA DIII teams.

Played since I was 3. Plan to keep playing until I can't tie my own skates anymore.

NCAA DIII schools do offer scholarships (have some friends who play in DIII) also have a lot of friends that play with in the ACHA (Minot State University a DI team) and some have played for other schools. There are schools that give scholarships its if the school has means to give out scholarships and are not just club teams. Even some of my friends left Minot State to go to Iowa State to play because of scholarships.

All true, but that's not what I was responding to in my post. I was responding to the comment that no schools have multiple hockey teams at different levels. That's all.

I think you've beaten the scholarship boy up enough...

He still said they got tryouts for the DI team, and if they didn't make it, they'd get most of it paid to play for the DIII team. So an ACHA DIII club team is going to pay most of their way? NCAA DIII can't even give out athletic scholarships so an ACHA DIII team paying for even a penny of someones schooling is... ridiculous.

Played competitively up to Junior A in Alberta, concussions ruined my dream of carrying it over to college hockey. Now I just go out weekly with a group of guys for pick up hockey, no contact haha.

Adult league goalie. My regular team is in the "Over 40" division but I fill in at most levels the league. Started late (at 24) and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
