Leaf fan coming in peace.

Why were Darche and Desharnais on your powerplay and why was Desharnais your extra attacker? I havent heard much about them and assumed you had much greater weapons at the F position. Are these guys really underrated or do you have less offensive depth than I had thought?

The team looked so slow tonight. Like they all had concrete in their skates.

Yes outshoting them 31-18 shows how much they didn't even compete. If you're an idiot that brings up shots from in close Montreal was up 9-6 in that category also.

Habpolar.

I'd argue that Gomez was one of the better players on the Habs tonight. He always seemed to be making things happen and moving the puck, made a few nifty plays to gain the zone and some beautiful passes. abs were simply unlucky not to have scored tonight.

And I'm quite sure that no one could care less about you watching the Habs or not. Gomez is a key part of the Habs core and a great player. It is game one and he was one of our better players. Have some faith and don't be so obnoxious about your opinions.

Vince McMahon's reaction this game. "Leafs didn't outplay the Habs. The Habs Outplayed The Habs"

Gonna be a long season watching ******* martin constantly confused as to why his ****** defensive "system" doesn't seem to generate much offence. If we had a second line centre pleks wouldn't be constantly focused on, unfortunatly we didn't tonight.

The team's coach is Jacques Martin.

That's really all you need to know.

Jacques Martin is an idiot... pulls his goalie and then plays Josh Gorges, an excellent defensive defenceman, up front as a forward. Jacques Martin is an idiot. AK gets a phantom hooking penalty and gets benched for half the 3rd then demoted to the 3rd line for 3 shift. Quite the motivator your idiot Martin!

Tremblay said it. Leafs big D punished the small and soft Habs forwards. Thus the pathetic 2nd and 3rd.

Incidentally, our D core got smaller during the off-season. lol

Because Martin is retarded.

The team really needs to stop playing our ****** prospects right up until the end of pre-season and give the team more than 0 games to actually play as a whole. This game being the first time is stupid.

Also, being dominated in the faceoff circle isn't going to change much with Betts and 50.3 unless he somehow does better than what he normally does.

i know the preseason is meant to give a chance to prospects play but i think like we should have used that time putting down lines and letting them mesh instead of mixing players and thats one of the reasons for a lot of bad passes and misscommunication between players tonight

Good game guys. Gave us a big scare in the first period.

Price was hands down amazing in the net for you guys, loved it and loved gionta's tenacity again tonight.

Darche was the best forward on the team, what's that tell you?

The 3rd line had some good shifts (also some bad ones), but at least they were noticeable. Where the hell was line #1 or line #2? Gomez is still garbage.

Subban was an absolute joke tonight. Responsible for both goals against.

Price played great.

Diaz looked solid enough for a first game (a few blunders, but he made some good plays too).

Spacek and Gill were fine.

Gorges was meh.

Weber was solid.

Campoli... for **** sakes.

The top-6 was a joke all game. Some of them tried, some of them looked like they could care less.

DD, Darche and Cole were the best for us - and they were very average.

Engqvist and Moen were fine, but didn't do anything to spark us either.

Ask JM.

We are paying Cole 18M to play 10 minutes on the 4th line.

What happened? Cole was a joke because he got 4th line minutes, and our defense was getting run all over the ice, and we lost one to injury.

Having said that, the entire team played terribly...including Price.
Your post was pretty good.. until that last part.

Oh man I love the Toronto fans over-reacting with Reimer. I accepted it so much.

But seriously.. did you watch the game?

Most of the Habs shots were from 20 feet. He was good but the 2-0 win exaggerates his performance.

three players stood out for me

weber played well as a forward, then well on defense.
diaz played very well, then very, very bad
gomez was alright. baby steps i guess

everybody else seriously sucked. nobody seemed to be completely in sync.

the D was good most of the night at creating transitions but the forward couldn't penetrate the leafs' defense. defensively though, our defense was bad but better than the score indicates. first goal was a PP ****up, second goal was a beauty, nothing much could be done tbh and someone ought to buy price a beer

you can pull the 'no effort', 'no compete' bla bla bla but the bottom line is the leafs defense was impenetrable tonight.

and reimer was ****ing lucky to get this shutout, looked very shaky...

happy for lombardi, schenn is indeed a beast, and komi didnt suck

and come on, losing the opening game to the leafs is sort of a yearly tradition innit?

Exactly. Same damn play everytime he enters the zone.

MaxPac was also atrocious. Especially in the third period.
