Don't blame Homer. Blame Sather for signing him for a ridiculous amount of money and term. Well no, you can blame Homer for trading him for him. That was stupid.

"It was not in any case one of our better games," said 39 years old veteran in the Philadelphia locker room.
Was this a return how you imagined?
"I hope that now we will only get better and better. It is not easy to play with the winners of the Stanley Cup. Boston has a great team. They did not change anything but we have a completely new team."
A lot of people around you used to say that 1599 points looks like an unfinished work. Are you glad you have that number rounded in the first game? "For me it is important that we won. I believed that if I am healthy I can do that point this year (laughing). But its not any milestone I was specially focusing on. Around our team was a great expectation. We have five or six young people who were not yet 22 years old, which is a big exception."
How do you feel after the game? Tired? "No. I played a lot less than before. I know that I will not go on the ice for twenty-five minutes a game. That's another thing I have to get used to. When you play twenty-five minutes the whole career and suddenly you have fifteen minutes, you have to adjust timing, line changing is different. That's another thing I have to adapt."
I gotta say, it was a good turn around. It actually felt good to have a decent goalie in goal and not have to panic everytime they came down the ice or fired the puck. Its only one game, but the Bruins came out pumped and we got a couple good breaks. Then we settled down a bit. Briere is what worried me the most. He looked lost last night and his line didn't have any chemistry.
Looks like Couturier is here to stay. I'm a little skeptical about how we're gonna do in the long run this year--I think we'll finish lower in the standings than people think. I am going to watch Couturier closely, though. It seems like he does the little things very well.
I'm just glad that we won this game after having to sit through 30 mins of BS. That banner ceremony was just downright obnoxious. I'm so sick of Boston. GET THE F OVER YOURSELVES!
Timonen to me was the best defender and one of the best Flyers tonight. Easily one of the biggest unsung heros.
JVR, I agree, but to me it is because of his linemates. I'm not a fan of JVR with Giroux or Jagr at all. He almost looks like the third wheel with them out there and he is unable to do what he does that makes him effective.
Id drop JVR with Briere and Voracek and bump Simmonds to the top line
Agree on Timonen, Coburn played well too imo. I think switching JvR and Simmonds might happen soon. We'll see how it works out, it could be great but it would require Simmonds to play a little more with his head than he has so far. It's not just enough to be the big body, he has too keep up with what it is Jagr and Giroux are doing. He's out there with them on the pp already, but then it's more or less "just" about positioning himself in front of the goal.

I've been very pessimistic about the Lilja signing, but I have to agree that he had a pretty decent game last night. Not much more you can ask from your 6th d, maybe that he could eat a few more minutes, he only played 12.
On that note, I don't quite understand why we played Pronger as much as we did. He had a pretty rough game and has just returned after an injury. Unless they believe that the more he plays in the beginning the quicker he'll find his old game again.

Now I'm no Boston fan, but it was their first home game after winning the Stanley ****ing Cup. Their GM is a class guy, and their fans certainly ought to be able to celebrate it a little bit. Your impatience is not the determining factor in when they should start the game. Perhaps you should get over yourself.

Gotta say, was not psyched on Couturier being on this team this season (thought he would benefit from more time in Juniors), but he really impressed me last night. Lavy had him out there killing penalties and playing in the finals minutes and he handled it very well. If he keeps up this play I don't see them sending him back to Juniors.
