He sucks. He's bad defensively and bad offensively. He's kinda big though. So there's that. Was the worst Stars' defenseman who had one of the worst defensive corps in the NHL last year.

Though he somehow ended up being a +5. Go figure.

Guy will be used to play 8-10 minutes max as a #6 until Staal is back. Not a big deal.

Colton Orr? Because it would take more than Woywitka to make Gill look like Bobby Orr.

Evidence that +/- is a completely worthless statistic.

the Rangers seem to have a knack for getting use out of otherwise useless players (Boyle, Christensen, Eminger, Avery, now Woywitka?)

I understand that but I find it extremely unlikely, given Canadien defensemen injury history, that Woywitka wouldn't have been recalled at some point during the season, similar to Alexandre Picard last year.

That clears a contract from the 50 and eliminates him as first call up for D.

From what i saw of both in an habs jersey, Picard would be quite in front of Woywitka on any team depth.

As for the situation versus last year.

Montreal has Subban, Gorges, Spacek, Campoli, Gill, Diaz, Emelin and Weber starting the year in Mtl without considering Markov. Thats enough (it should)

I remember last year in a paticular SJ/Dallas game where he was really bad and Crawford kept sticking him out there. Good to see he found a new home though.

Yep.

Now they're both gone. Go figure.

I remember the same thing being said about Eminger when we aquired him last year, and he ended up being a very capable, albeit somewhat inconsistent, 3rd pairing dman who could fill in top 4 occasionally.

Sometimes it is about the system that they play in. The Rangers have a lot of defensively responsible forwards to help coddle the defense. And Lundqvist.

So where is he on the Rangers depth charts? I have him on my bench in a 30-team keeper league

Where have you read that? I don't think you'll find a Blues fan or a Stars fan that would agree that he would do the job as a number 6. He's horrible. I'm not sure who the "double Bs" are but if you have Woywika playing in the NHL, you're in trouble...
