definitely have nothing against the guy, but I have to feel like this was already a second chance. Don't think many guys his age get a chance #3.

So are we on the hook to pay the difference between the $3M and his new European salary but we retain his rights?

Interesting that WGR says it will be his hometown team.
If it is, that's KLH Vajgar Jindřichův Hradec in the Czech third division (below Extraliga and 1. liga).

I'm glad this seems to have worked out for the best but just you watch when the Sabres lose their first shootout and people start wondering if it would have been wise to keep Kotalik for his shootout ability. You know someone will post something to that effect!

And that person will be as wrong as can possibly be. The Sabres went 5-1 in shootouts last year WITHOUT carrying dead weight like AlKo on the roster.

Bottom line is Pegula's money bought Robyn Regehr and Calgary's second.
I guess we should thank Kotalik for his useless contract because the ball would not have started rolling on turning team around without that deal

Either way, his salary will not count on the cap.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pegula is paying the entire salary. The Sabres didn't do this to save money.

I think that fact is going to get some time to get used to

Who cares? Plenty of people.

He's still property of the Sabres, and people like to know what's going on with those players even if they aren't with the big club.

He will be probably playing for HC Mountfield Ceske Budejovice, which is near Jindrichuv Hradec and Ales played there as a junior. His salary is expected to be around 150000-200000 dollars and Bufallo will be paying rest of his current contract.

Kotalik has officially been loaned to HC Mountfield České Budějovice, the team he grew up playing for.
He'll play his first game against HC Vítkovice Steel today in just about three hours.

Kotalik scored the first goal of the match - in the 4th minute of the 1st period already
