Read imo. Couturier will bump to the LW on the 3rd line. Schenn will center. Read will bump Rinaldo to 13th forward.

I agree with this.

Simmonds-Briere-Voracek
JVR-Giroux-Jagr
Couturier-Schenn-Hartnell
Read-Talbot-Nodl
Rinaldo

Shelley waived after his suspension.

This is what I'd like to see happen. I've been saying all along that Simmonds was the eventual replacement for Hartnell and seeing that he played on the top line with Briere last night that passing of the guard may be happening sooner rather than later.

I think that Hartnell should be parlayed into a 1st rnd pick in nest years draft (may have to include a 2nd with him if it's to a middle of the pack team) and give his spot on the 3rd line to Schenn. This is what I'D do.

However, what I THINK will happen is that Read will get demoted to the 4th line and PK duties and that Schenn will replace him in the top 9.

Just browsing through the faceoff stats from yesterdays game - seems like there is a serious need for someone who can win some offensive zone draws.
If I remember it correctly, Schenn has been pretty solid in the faceoff circle in the preseason...one more reason to call him up rather soon than later.

Walker could be sent to the AHL to make room for schenn cause i like
Andreas Lilja as the sixth dman he was solid last night and we could call gus or bart to be dman #7 if we had to.........

I am waiting for Lavvy to reunite Hartnell and Briere. I think it would do them both some good; they've been really quiet since the pre-season.

A Couts, Schenn, Hartnell line actually sounds good to me. Hartnell with some experience and grinding should work well with the two

In a perfect world, when Shelley's suspension is over and he's waived.

Schenn needs more time. Organizations know that he'll be gold with the right seasoning. Be patient. It won't be long.

Amazing. I've never seen a kid play so composed and so well defensively at 18 in his first 2 NHL games. Unless something changes he's not going anywhere.

schenn had 2a in his first game w/ the phantoms, a 6-3 win. i can't imagine schenn spending an extended period of time in the ahl.

Looks like a good balanced line up to me.

I'd give it at least the first month, unless someone gets hurt.

If they keep playing like they are and winning, they probably won't be in a rush to make any lineup changes/change any lines. That being said, it's a matter of time until someone gets injured or he produces in the AHL to the point of forcing them to call him up. He was very underwhelming in the pre-season, but I think if he shows he's too good for the minors/produces over a PPG after about a dozen or so games, they'll bring him up.

The play of Simmonds has shown us all what we think a guy making 4.2 million should be doing. I know it's only 2 games but Simmonds has scored, checked, fought and is noticeable on every shift. Hartnell has had 2 completely invisible games. There you go. He's not worth his contract - not even close. He wasn't last season, and seems less worth the money so far now. Maybe he bounces back to a point where he's worth 4.2 again - was he ever though??? This infuriates you? He has no business playing above anybody on the top 2 lines based on his performance so far this season. Laviolette knows this and he certainly hasn't earned himself anymore ice time.

Also- we have a lot of forwards with Schenn and Couturier who cost a lot less - making the "Lets get rid of Hartnell" bandwagon make even more sense. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

Agreed. I would have suggested Rinaldo on the 4th line but Nodl has looked really good and Rinaldo - well at least he hasn't gotten suspended.

JVR - Giroux - Jagr
Simmonds - Briere - Voracek
Couturier - Schenn - Read
Hartnell - Talbot - Nodl

I know some people wouldn't like to see three rookies on one line, but they're all defensively responsible, and defensive responsibility is something rookies normally lack, so I think the line could work.

Keep in mind that Schenn cap charge to the Flyers is being reduced by about 9K for every day he's in the AHL. If he stays down for about 2 months, that reduces it by about 540K.

A perennial 25 goal scorer with size is worth 4.2 million dollars a year.

Agreed. I'm wondering if the Flyers will eventually dump him anyway though, there's been a lot of rumors about the Flyers having people on the block.

Me? I'd keep the roster the way it is right now, with one exception. Even if Couturier is ready right now, I think it'd be a good idea to send him back and start his contract next year. That way, you don't have to extend him at the same time as Giroux, Meszaros, and Read.

No. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see Schenn until around Christmas.
