That's not gaborik's man on the backcheck regardless. It was a two on two. If Gaborik comes back to double team Richards it would leave a potential trailer wide open.

I actually blame Sauer more than DZ too. Mike Richards is a good player and made a great play to deflect it but brad Richardson is an awful player and sauer should not have let him create separation wide and get that pass to the front.

Still, we did not deserve to lose the way we did. The refs pulled a Pittsburgh and gifted the kings this game.

Why is "unsportsmanlike diving" even in the rulebook? It's NEVER called when it should be, and then once per year they randomly decide to call both a trip AND a dive cancelling each other out. It's either one or the other. I loathe NHL referees. They are truly an embarrassment.

FTR - The Bruins lost their first game last year 5-2 against the Yotes. I believe some of you are overreacting far too much.

Probably provided some constructive feedbacks to the clown refs on the quality of their work.

By the way... Wolski is easily the worst player on this team.

Guy is clueless on the ice. Lazy, dumb, slow, passive...

Can we please dump this guy and replace him with a guy who will AT LEAST give an effort.

It is what it is.

We decided to take weak penalties. We got a point. Fair enough.

It sucks we lost, but the score could've easily been 3-1 Kings at the end of the first and we probably wouldn't of even gotten it to overtime, if that was the case. I'm happy how we bounced back at the end of the first, but a little disappointed we couldn't pull a win, of course.

The Kings are a really good team. It's not like we lost to a Leafs or Columbus team. We lost to a team that some have them as contenders.

The bad:

Wolski, where are you budddyyy? I noticed everyone BUT him. The one time I noticed Wolski he passed it to nobody and outside of the zone we were attacking. I have an idea, wave Wolski and get Avery back up here.

According to Shark poster reviews from last year:

Name Call Level Skating Positioning Notes
Joannette, Marc moderate B- A game to game erratic on call level
Pollock, Kevin loose C- B talker, gets revenge matches, safety

if anyone cares

Call me unnecessarily optimistic, but a point is not as bad as it could have been. Should have been able to kill the game at 2-1.
I'm with you. Way too much doom and gloom in here.

Hey guys, good game. Could have gone either way. I like the way you play, very hard working and crashing the net hard.

I was super impressed with McDonagh, looked like your best defender out there in my opinion. Callahan was obviously unbelievable. Best of luck the rest of the way, I'm very much hoping you destroy the Ducks much like the Sabres did

If Cally keeps up that shot production, he'll have a couple of hundred goals by the end of the season, hehe

I'm really happy how our captain looked and how the team looked overall after the first 15 minutes.

It's just the first game. There's 81 games left. Nothing to worry about.

As much as we could've came out of this game with two points, we could've easily came out of it with no points. As much as two points and a W is what you play for, I'm content with the one point we got.

Losing the game to the Kings isn't why I'm upset. Losing the game to ourselves is why I'm upset. Totally undisciplined and blew a late lead.

The reason why I'm mad at the refs is because the Kings did not earn either penalty. They were both a result of incidental contact. In that case, they should have let them play.

The Kings were setting picks all game.

Way too much complacency - we should have won that

But - game 1. Long way to go.

I agree. Not a horrible game, not happy with the outcome, but it could've been much worse. I'm happy with our defense, I thought the BR line really picked it up in the third period, and Cally is a an possessed.

Looking forward to tomorrow and the rest of the season.

Thats...not...even remotely relevant.

The Bruins were probably outplayed and deserved to lose 5-2. We did not deserve to lose the way we did. The kings were gifted the game. That's what is infuriating. Not the fact that we lost, but the fact that we deserved two points just as much if not more than the kings and we earned the right to fight FAIRLY for the extra point in overtime or a shootout. Instead the kings got ANOTHER unearned powerplay and were GIFTWRAPPED the extra point by incompetent referees. The kings actually should have been shorthanded after the crosbyesque dive by Mitchell but the NHL doesnt even follow their own rules. Its PATHETIC.

I didn't get the chance to go through the GDT, but I am surprised there isn't more mention of the way Gabby played today. I don't remember if he played decently earlier in the year last season.. but he looked like Gabby from 2 years ago today. The move he put on Doughty to drive to the net was a thing of beauty and shows me he's seemingly gotten that spark back. I know it's just one game, but I'm really happy from what i saw today from Gaborik.

Players of the game for me:

Callahan
Girardi
Lundqvist

Well, I see the 2011 scapegoat for every single loss is going to be Wolski. Wonder who everyone moves to next once he's not around anymore or playing well.
