That intermission "debate" between Milbury and Jones was something else.

Milbury doesn't have a leg to stand on. You can take that crap out of the game without eliminating hitting. It's a silly argument. Nobody wants to see that kind of hit.

I totally agree about AM. He was solid last year and looks as he'll improve from where he left off. The only problem, if you can call it that is that we're so loaded on defense, he'll probably remain a bottom pairing for at least this year and pending what happens with Mitchell, maybe next year as well.

listen you all are going to love richards. 90pts this year.

his downfall in philly was becoming the captain. He was anointed before his AHL stint and even said he wasnt ready when the the question arose at the NHL level.

a hell of a hockey player.

on a side note my favorite flyers over the past years have been williams, gagne, and richards......... glad they are playing together.

ive beensuggesting that A-Mart replaces Mitchell alongside Doughty next year for a while.

Although he isnt a true top pairing dman yet, and maybe not next year, hopefully Doughty will be good enough that he doesnt need a stud beside him

That way we can keep Johnson under watch with a vet

I think AM can be a first pairing but I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

No matter how well AM plays this year, I don't think we'll be as strong on defense without Mitchell.

Anyone else notice that it was Dubinsky and Callahan, two forwards for the Rangers on the PK in overtime? Interesting stuff.

I count at least 3 or 4 times he robbed the Kings of a goal.

And that.

Richards (Mike, obviously. Brad was solid, but nothing spectactular) could have edged him out, but Lundy was the only reason the Rangers weren't down 3-0 at the end of the 1st.

Looks like no suspension [yet?] for Mats Zuccarello, only a $2500 dollar fine for boarding Clifford. Maybe Shanny was listening to Mad Mike after all.

Just finished the game after getting home from work. I was really enthused by our start but then the team looked like they were trying to protect a lead they didn't have. That said, it's the first game and it's going to take a bit for the players to get in the groove of things. I was happy with the way they finished though (obviously). The team seems to have a knack for turning it on late. Even with that, it's going to be tough for the team to take that next step they should this year if the PP doesn't improve.

- Quick played well. First goal wasn't good, obviously. Not sure why he was down but he has to know Callahan will shoot that. Great shot by the way and a great player. By far the most dangerous Ranger today.

-Martinez was very good. Our defense on the whole played well.

-Doughty was ok. He's still rounding into shape and struggled with turnovers. Give him a few games.

-Kopitar was Kopi. Dangerous.

-Really happy for Richards. He wasn't having a good game defensively (Lost his man in front for their 2nd goal and got beat a few times where Quick had to make saves) but he came up huge in the end with a great goal and a nice assist.

-Great to see Jack get the winner. Our PP still sucked though.

-I hope Trent Hunter shaves. He looks ridiculous.

Great to have hockey back and great to start with a W.

If anyone around the league was wondering who Alec Martinez is, they know him now. That was a total man crash today by McGuire.

The Kings knew what they were doing when they traded up in the 2007 draft to select Alec Martinez in the 4th round.

Los Angeles traded 2007 sixth round pick (#154-Dan Dunn), 2008 fourth round pick (#93-Braden Holtby) to Capitals for 2007 fourth round pick (#95-Alec Martinez) on 2007-06-23

LOL @ Craig Button on the NHL Network saying, "he's gonna get his 65-70 points" about Richards. I'm thinking to myself, "that's 20-25 more than they have gotten from their 2C the last 3 years".

That just makes me giddy.

Just watched the game. They played great. Martinez played really well and Quick still hasn't learned to stay in his net.

not too strange since Staal was out and a dman took the penalty right?

Burrows and Kesler pk when down to 3 men for the Canucks

Yep. Girardi was the d-man out there and their other good d-man McDonagh, who had a really good game, was in the box. I'm not surprised they had Cally and Dubi out there. They're both great on the PK.

Did you see Kompon at the end?

He was shaking his head in the direction of Murray as if to say "Wow, thank God they got that one. I can't believe they actually scored on the PP. Saves my job...for now."

I think the PP would be much improved with NO PP coach.
