Around The League (Playoff Watch Thread)

Hockey is back!

Enjoyed watching the first two games with some friends. Now cheering on the Pens/Malkin

I can't do that, hate the Pens from when I was in DC (anyone who says that Caps-Pens is a "fake" rivalry for the Sid-Ovi thing is an idiot who needs to consult a history book). Also, hate the bandwagon fans.

I can gleefully root AGAINST Vancouver and LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU however.

Malkin's stick-handling is rusty. Keeps losing the puck the way Teemu did two seasons ago. Jagr seems like he's still got it. Cant wait for the Ducks tomorrow. And even the Kings, I wanna see what their team looks like.

Jagr still has great hands, but he's pretty slow. He'll rack up the pp points and once they are in the offensive zone, he'll make some amazing passes. Just won't score much off the rush.

Yeah Malkin didn't look good for the first game but it happens. Liked watching Letang.

During the first I was telling my friends he is money in the shootout, then it goes to a SO and he scores nicely

Bryz looked awesome tonight, hoping it is the start of good things for him in Philly.

Malkin's SO goal was slick.

Bruins are going to struggle this year, they just don't have the firepower up front IMO

I love the way the Lightning play. Those uniforms look good, too.

I wanted Skinner so bad last year. I was hoping he'd drop to us at 12, or we could trade up to like 9-10. Never thought he'd get picked at 7, even though I had him ranked as 3rd in the draft.

Although I guess I'm pretty happy with Fowler and Etem (it would probably take both 12 and 29 to get to 7, I don't think DSP's 42 would make it).

I was cheering for them in the playoffs once the Ducks were out. They have a great team.

If I'm dreaming I'm thinking of Fowler and Skinner. That would be all kinds of awesome.

Yeah Skinner was my choice for a forward as well, hoping he would drop to us. The Ducks had Fowler third on their list so got to think if they traded up it would have been for him.

Which just tells you how fortunate Anaheim must have felt to be picking him at 12.

Pretty much. I couldn't believe it myself. Fell into more disbelief after every pick went by.. I thought Dallas would have taken him for sure. The teams who picked first really loved those forwards I guess.

Fowler was the kid I dreamed of Anaheim taking if they happened to have a bad season. You know how it is. Every season you look at the draft picks, and one or two players might stand out, and you think "what if?" and then as the season moves further along you realize the team won't be picking early enough. It's no big deal, because it means the team is doing well, but man it would be great if they could get that player. That was Fowler in that season. I just really liked his game. I also felt like he would have gotten more hype if he hadn't been on the same team as Ryan Ellis, who was Windsor's #1 defenseman. This season that guy is Ryan Murray. I have dreams of a Murray/Fowler one-two punch on the blue line.

Back on topic. Breakdown 3rd for the Canes cost them that one. That was just an ugly period. Tampa really took advantage though.

This thread needs to get sticked.

Is Dallas on another amazing start? It was just one game though.

Gonna watch Sens vs Leafs. Always a good game, even if the teams aren't.

Sabres going to be really good this year. New owner comes in and right away they upgrade on defense.
