As for Volchenkov, he's already had some huge hits this season... ask that Habs forward (Chris Higgins?)
Yes it is. This is the best the Sens have played all year in terms of frustrating their opponents and allowing few scoring chances. Unfortuately it looked more like the 'old NHL' style than any Sens game so far. Perhaps that is what made you think they played like 'poo'.

I thought he was aggravating. He kept repeating the same stuff over and over again. Let it go man, or at least change it up. No need to say "Ottawa Senators" every time you refer to the team. You can use just "Ottawa" or just "Senators" sometimes too. He did that kind of stuff all night.

Players were falling all over the place and clearly fighting the puck.

I'm guessing the ice conditions were abysmal.

The team didnt play like poo, they were pretty strong agaisnt a tough team to contain. Phillips and Chara shut down Lecavalier, phillips getting voted 4th star- hardest working Sen by radio guys.

But you get the feeling they can still click better. I think it was Tampa Bay's cautious approach to playing us, as Sens are 14-2-1 in the last 17 games against the bolts, that made the game look less than we were expecting. Still work to do, but looking good all around

I honestly think there's a bit of rust with this huge layoff and players in and out of the lineup.

I seem to remember we had a terrible schedule early last season and we really struggled and had to make up for it the rest of the season. The fact that we can still win games after having to take a week off only 5 games in is a nice sign.

You know what its actually not surprising if you listen to him on the team. He is by far the best guy they have got. Plus he has worked with Dean before they have some chemistry. He is a huge upgrade on Millen.

Great road game by the sens. Schaefer was unreal tonight.

There's the obvious - Messy
There's the complicated - Cav (Short for caviar - a mess of roes - get it?)
There's the literal - Solid
There are a whole slew of names derived from the smooth way he plays the game - Butter, Silk, Smooth, 3C (calm, cool and collected), Kisser
There's the funny - Giant (Andre the)

Any of those strike your fancy?

I'm pretty sure the Sens will just call him Mess.

Yah, but you can always recycle it, right? Moose isn't in the league anymore and anyway, he was a forward.

Well, Paul Gascoigne was called "Gazza" by British soccer fans.

We could call him "Mezza".

"MEZZA! MEZZA!"

Hrmm.

Could be confusing.

"SPEZZA! SPEZZA!"

I watched the first only, then had some local Bush League action to take in...I smell like a King Size Players Light.

I would have put money on a loss tonight. Tampa looked "on" in the first. I'm impressed with the 4-1 count.

-Eaves should be go to go. I like that, it'll toughen him up quicker. He looks like he could be a Joe Boxer model..gotta get some scar tissure happening.

-My boy Scheaf, I caught the highlights at the rink. Does anybody score a higher percentage of highlight reel goes. For those of you scoring at home, that was Peter Schaefer a la Marian Hossa.

-Does anyone else watch Mezaros and think he must have played as many years in the league as Brad Marsh? The kid is money.

-So I here the Dom was being the Dom?

-Good penalty killing on both sides tonight.

Thats all I got. Spezza looks to be progressing nicely. 6 and OH is impressive. Especially when you consider they only played 1 good gam before this.

Mezasaurus??

Amazing game glad to see the boys fired up after the long break. Couple of guys made some mistakes but they were really amplified by Tampa's speed. Overall good game, first one in a while where pothier was playing for our team. Had to post on the win now it's back to the bar. Can't wait for mondays game

Actually, much better. Hossa almost never scored on breakaways.
