Way too early to talk along these lines...you can make a case for both players...not sure what the french speaking thing has to do with anything, careful on this board with that stuff...
You relize kostitsyn is caught flat footed to often right should ship him & kristo to cbj for brassard

Both Pouliot and Caron are junk. You can have them if you want.

I can't believe this is even a question. Do you watch hockey at all or do you bease your question on fan boards and non hokey watching people?
Pouliot is garbage who save for a 20 game run has been a complete and total bust. AK for all his faults is a perennial 20 goal scorer. The biggest aggravation with AK is that he can be even better than that. Pouliots compliant is that he's never done anything!

Was this created by the same guy who said trade Eller over Desharnais?

If Pouliot plays in boston like he did here last season this will be his last shot in the nhl

We've lowered our standards, last year it was "we should've drafted getzlaf", now it's 'we should've kept pouliot". lol

played 10 minutes in yesterday's game. he's a decent player but not much more than that and we don't need another small center who we know won't score 20 goals.

This is just as bad as the guy that says Desharnais is a better player than Eller. Man one loss in the first game of the season can make some people go completely loco.

Waaaait. Okay, I'll have 1 Caron then

And no, AK was set up to fail the last game. Yes he played like crap, but we've already established that he won't succeed playing against top lines the past -I dunno- 3 years? Martin should know better and give him enough ice time but on the 3rd line which is set to be an offense-oriented one as opposed to the past years. Cole on the 3rd line is an absolute waste.

With JM as coach, neither should still b here...

With a coach better at getting the most out of players even if they don't perfectly fit his personal preferences (see Boucher, Guy) both would be here and we'd have the most dangerous/productive 3rd line in hockey, and probably one of the best/most productive top-9 fwd groups in the league.

And back at you....Quoted for truth.

I do think that Pouliot can flourish with Julien. 'Cause if he doesn't over there, there's not a thing even a guy like Boucher could do. But you know my take on Martin. Just clearly the type of coach I don't like and amongst the trait I don't, is what you're refering to.

Boucher isn't some wizard, he's not going to stop Pouliot from being a terrible hockey player. Boucher couldn't even get much out of Gagne.

I really wanted to like Pouliot, but not having him is addition by subtraction.

Brassard would be the Habs' 5th or 6th best centre - His even-strength scoring rate was barely higher than Desharnais' last season, playing against a fairly similar level of opposition but starting a lot more in the offensive zone.

1. Save about 2 million in cap space
2. Could have gotten a 2nd rounder for Andrei (better asset management)
3. AK is a UFA at end of year, probably will lose him for nothing
4. Pouliot speaks french
5. Pouliot can fight

Cons:

I can't think of any since I find their talent level the same, and they are both inconsistent.
I'd rather have Ryan Getzlaf (or Carter, or Parise, or Richards, or Perry - 2003 1st round picks) and Latendresse over any of these two.

Pouliot or A.K. ? I didn't want any of them.

There at least half a dozen players better than A.K. drafted after him in this 1st round in n2003. especially a couple of BIG offensive centers, something this team is missing since ages.

As for Pouliot... Give me back Lats anytime.

With all these injuries on D, I would package A.K. with some prospects or picks to get a very good D-man that will be UFA next July: Shea Weber !

Cons: Andrei Kostitsyn was part of the darkest day in Habs history along with his little brother Sergei.
