Kings vs. Sabres - 10/08/11 - POST GAME THOUGHTS

Most of the team was just going through the motions today. A bad bounce and a weak goal (Buffalo's first goal) along with some shoddy front-of-the-net coverage did us in. It would be sweet if the Kings could start the game as if they're down already and there's only 5 minutes left to play but I digress.

Great to see Kopitar scoring. We need him consistently rolling all year. People keep saying Richards is going to open things up for Kopi. I think it's the other way around.

2 points out of 4 isn't bad given all the travel. I'll take it. Back to the USA and hopefully the boys get on a roll.

LOL when Fox said that the D has the green light now it was funny because it was like the last 7 mins or something, when Buffalo has been playing with their D the same "green light " mentality the whole game. Some system we have. I felt bad for Kopi scoring the goals again. poor guy scoring everything almost all the time.

Not if Terry gets fired first.

That's not going to change, Kopitar is by far the Most talented player the Kings have (Still). He is the Franchise.

Deflating loss, mostly just because there's such a long break.

why dont we bring in our talented short players. kozun and loktionov are so much better than a parse and westgarth (which no idea why he was on)

The Kings would have to miss the Playoff's for that to happen.

Okay so we are going to start complaining about the system again? Is Terry Murray the scapegoat for 3 more or less lucky goals...

If you guys want to make excuses about the Euro-sized rink, Kopi was the only Euro in the lineup. Heck, is he the only Euro on the 23-man roster?

On the plus side, Kopi looks like a beast and Drew is slowly getting his groove back.

But it would be better if the players around him made it less obvious by pitching in.

Kings crapped their own bed but the refs were not making it any easier. Sabres got away with a bunch of calls while we got busted for wind draft.

good game gentleman. Tough to win against Miller when the offense puts 4 on the board. I hate how we start to collapse on D after we get up by 3. We dont even try to score and it makes the game scores look closer. I wanna see back and forth offense all game!

Well, that kind of blew. The Kings were terrible around their own net and generally lackluster in the offensive zone. Buffalo kept it simple and was aggressive.

As I mentioned in the GDT, I thought Doughty had a strong game. He had a lot more energy than last time. I'd go so far as to say that he showed more life in this game than I've seen from him in quite a while. That's really pleasing to me because I've begun to suspect that Doughty has developed a case of cement foot. Cement foot is a debilitating condition that can lead to chronic pylon syndrome. Hopefully I'm wrong.

And the hamburger god commercial is pretty funny. I can live with that one at every break for the next eight months.

I will give Johnny B a pass. The D really let him down today. But a world class goalie stops at least one or two of those, and bails his D out.

Johnny B is not there yet.....not yet..

Kopi was good, everyone else was blah.

Westgarth with a horrendous penalty that leads to a goal, oh and I think I heard Parse's name called once today.

I have to say it seems like we are running 2 first lines, and 2 4th lines.

Our bottom 6 is dirt slow as a unit and just cant get to the puck. It will help abit when penner comes back (as Richie will be moved back down)...but Stoll has to pick up his game along with Lewis. I wont start on Moreau for a few more games

I'm not going to be too hard on them today. I thought they skated well and moved the puck around great. Also held the play in Buffalo's end most of the time. Let's get back to North America and kick some ass!

lost 4-2 to a good team who was playing well when we were looking shoddy all game. Not that bad of a result in that context

im happy to split the europe games, now to get back to the US and start the season off proper

yeah i think one is great at making small skilled players dominate the regular season and the other is hopefully the one that can grind out playoff games. Hopefully.

something that Doughty and JJ need to learn which i forgot to mention last game, is when to jump into the play.

Teams burn us a lot when a Dman is the 4th guy itno the zone trailing the play, he gets the puck and is wide open. A-Mart is the only kings Dman who ever seems to get himself into position to do that for the kings. If they aren't carrying the puck themselves, DD and JJ seem to never be trailing the play like that
