That 8 hour time change is just awful. Right when you feel like it's time for bed (11PM west coast time), it's 7AM in London or 8AM in Germany - time to get up. It's brutal.

A split in Europe is just fine. The days off coming up will do them well to get them adjusted again to the US time zones. It's always easier to adjust when flying west.
Gotta agree with Tony. Two points is fine considering they just played 2 home games across the Atlantic. Doughty isn't in game shape yet, and at least JJ has a goal and assist already which should settle him down a little. I imagine he puts a lot of pressure on himself.

Bernier will be fine.

I absolutely do not disagree with travel fatigue being a factor, but it's not like Buffalo was at home here, guys...

Let's just stop pointing fingers and looking for victims until we can analyze some trends. We have not seen anything yet.

The Kings are playing their first 4 games on the road. If they go 2-2, that's about as good as you can expect. They're going to play well during the season and win, play poorly and lose, play well and lose, and play poorly but win. Good breaks and bad breaks are going to happen. They'll get good goaltending, and sometimes they won't. It's hockey. Buffalo will lose a few games along the way as well, sometimes not putting forth a great team effort in the process.

Far too early to get worked up over wins or loses. The important thing will be how the Kings, individually and collectively, respond from less than good performances. The teams that do that the best make the playoffs, and go deep into them. The teams that are able to overcome their deficiencies, and they all have them, are the teams that win. It's a long season.

I really don't like that those two games are both considered to be home games. It's just not fair, especially considering that there was no crowd support in any of them.

I wish the cameras had caught Richards yelling at the team. I would love to see that, and I would love to see how people reacted to it. It seemed like the team had a little more jump the last several minutes of the game.

I hate the idea of starting the year in Europe. I understand what Bettman is trying to do and how much Germans, Swede's, etc. wish to watch NHL games, but it's just horrible for the respective clubs.

It especially sucked for us...one Euro on the team and he's from one of the smallest European countries!

Essentially we played two "home games" with the majority of the arena rooting for the opposing team...

Does there always need to be an excuse for a loss?

How about we just lost to a better team today?

I just was able to watch the game. Man, did anyone come to play besides Kopi? Bernier's first goal was crap, but the rest he was just left alone. Jack Johnson was a freakin' turnover machine. I hate that this team thinks with 5 mins left they can come back. I thought that we were beyond that.

Oh yeah, did I mention how much I love Kopi?

After watching the first two games here are some observations/random thoughts.

The Good-

Anze Kopitar is a force. Outstanding in all situations, superstar skill up front.

Drew Doughty is just a treat to watch. Guy has all world skill and the smarts to match. Kid makes good smart plays on a consistent basis. Is a force in all situations. If he isnt scoring, setting up goals, making smart defensive plays, he is running the opposition the **** over.

Mike Richards is a HUGE acquisition for this team. Another guy that can be used effectively in all situations. Is going to make a big, big difference for this team this year.

The Bad

Jarrett Stoll CAN NOT be saddled with garbage like Ethan Moreau and Parse. Please for the love of god, make a move and get some more skill for this guy to play with. The bottom six is NOT good right now. Not sure if that has something to do with Penner being out or not, but this is something that needs to be dealt with.

Jack Johnson- for all his good attributes, his booming shot, his skating, he is a dum-dum hockey player. Stupid decisions that cost turnovers and GA, along with bad penalties make him a coach killer. Not sure what the answer is in the short term, but if this guy cant put it together going forward, he should be moved.

ye Stoll is struggling with nothingness on his wings. When Penner gets back, Stoll will at least have some speed on his wing in Richardson, plus Clifford and Richardson play well together so hopefully our 3rd line can do something then

Hopefully JJ is just shaking off the rust. He hasn't been bad in the defensive zone and has been good on offense so far, he has just had far too many giveaways already in 2 games

To add to the bad, both Goalies went from being lights out in preseason to being shaky in first games

Let's not panic here, it's just game 2. Last season we did the same thing, winning the first game and losing the second game. Then we went on to go 11-2 over the next 13.

I was really impressed with Buffalo's defense today. They block/knock down everything, and are very deep.

Not here to troll (I live in LA, had Kings season tixx for a few years, and they are my second favorite team), but you know that the last three Cup champs all started the season in Europe, right?

So I am still wondering why Westgarth saw almost 7 minutes of ice time. He is absolutely useless on the ice if he is not fighting. I mean **** I'll even take Paul PornoStache over him.

I question his role as an enforcer as well. I don't think he has been particularly intimidating so far in his career and he has done nothing to improve that image. Ivanans looked like a guy you don't want to mess with, Westgarth looks like a bad joke. I might have bad memory but when Ivanans pushed some midget away from his goalie, that was it, there was no reaction. Maybe a mumble like "@%# Russian monkey..." but that's it. Westgarth on the other side... he has no respect and it doesn't matter if the guy is 6'4 or 5'6.

As I said I might have selective memory here, I don't know. I do know that everyone was saying "Yeah, but Westgarth will be a much better player than Ivanans" and somehow I don't really see it. They are the same and Ivanans would have taken a big lead if he only managed to stay on his skates a bit longer.

That penalty he took was infuriating. How do you crosscheck a guy from the front while your teammate has the puck right in front of Ryan Miller?

Two games into the season and I've seen enough of Jack Johnson already.

That dude seriously has no idea how to play hockey. Every turnover is different. If he plays it along boards and the puck will get picked up by a Sabres player, okay that can happen, but how in the world can he play the puck like he did now on that 2nd goal. Thats just madness. He is not playing in a beer league. He has absolutely no idea what he is doing.

Against the Rangers he also had one bonehead play already and lost his man numerous times.

With Martinez, Voynov and Hickey the thought crossed my mind-just how valuable is Jack Johnson to the Kings? Great skater, great puck handler, tremendous in the shootout, has no clue what defensive zone coverage is, loses his man constantly, always a minus player. Martinez always makes the right play but he's not as skilled as Johnson. I think Johnson may be one of the King players that are on a short leash.

If you're talking about the play where he was in the corner and threw the puck up the middle which resulted in the point blank shot that Quick saved, I have to defend Jack here. I was sitting right there in that corner and you could hear the players talking really well in that stadium. I forget who it was exactly but I think it was Hunter took 2 steps from the goal line yelling "middle middle middle!" Jack was looking up the boards but dumped it to the middle instead. The player who was calling it only took to steps while calling middle then turned to his right and went to the boards. Yes it's Jack's fault for making the dangerous play but if your teammate is that vocal when calling for the pass, he better be where he's telling you he's going.
