No, we need betts gone, if we cannot get rid of his contract bury him in the minors. nod-talbot-rinaldo are a much better fourth line than any betts could contribute to, if we have an injury Holmstrom before betts.

Waiving him would still keep the team over the contract limit. Couturier has to go down to juniors or someone needs to be traded or claimed off waivers (almost certain no one claims Shelley and unlikely Betts would be claimed after just having failed a physical).

If Betts was returned to us injured...why would he be put into the lineup? You're overreacting. A lot.

I guess I was comparing Betts marginal production with Shelley's zero production.

Yeah, I'm aware. There are, in effect, two issues. One, at the moment, I think we are over the salary cap with Betts--which means Shelley has to go on waivers and / or Walker has to go back down.

Second, we need to move a contract--which neither Shelley or Betts are likely to accomplish. Maybe someone will take Matt Walker or Michael Leighton?

Problem solved. This assuming that Betts wouldn't want to play in the minors.
If he is injured the team can't waive him though.

maybe a team like florida could take walker? he is a fairly good depth dman, I dont know what their d corps looks like but maybe they could use him, and they have lots of space.

Betts is too slow, our PK is perfectly fine the way it is and is much faster and has more offensive chances.

We don't need him

No. Couturier is on a SR contract, so he gets 9 free games before his contract will count against the limit. If we do nothing after his 9th game, then yes he will have to be sent back.

2-0 all that matters no lineup changes needed. No need to insert slow old betts or same for shelley wouldn't be fair for someone to lose their spot when everyone has played well. And betts and shelley dont fit the direction the team is going we are faster better d wise and younger and they dont make us better we are worse with betts or shelley....

this situation isnt Holmgrens fault because it ended badly for the Flyers.
Now if this ended up helping the Flyers, it clearly would of been because he is a fantastic GM. One of the best in the league

There are many other options open to the Flyers to make the Cap work. One will not effect a single player playing on the FLyers.
