Well I just hope Stajcer gets some time in juniors. The kid needs to play A LOT.

Glad to see Erixon sticking.

Is Stajcer even going to play in Owen Sound? I doubt it.

Like the decision regarding Erixon. Kid just needs to get his feet wet and adjust. He already looks more comfortable than he did in preseason. The practice time coming up this week will be invaluable for him in particular.

Worried about Stacjer though. If they're not going to play him, this'll be a waste of a year. Is he too young to go to the ECHL?

Like I have said before, I think our system and goaltender coddle our defensemen and make their abilities seem better than they are.

Our forwards are great at offering defensive support and Lundqvist is a top 3 goalie. Makes a perfect atmosphere for guys like McDonagh, Sauer, and now Erixon to step in and take things one step at a time. Get solid defensively, then expand their game.

McDonagh is blossoming in front of our eyes and few people seem to notice. If Erixon can become a consistent 3rd pairing guy in Staal's absence it gives us a good problem to have when he returns.

People noticed - thogh the spotlight is on everyone because of Staal. IMHO the most pressure was on MacDonagh - he had to deal with sophomore jinx and stepping into top line role. Love his play and can't wait for everyone to slide back into their slots once Staal returns.

Actually interested in how Woywitka does. He was drafted in the first round by the Flyers several years ago mainly as a stay at home physical d-man. As a fighter he's not that good but but if he plays tough in the corners and in front of the net he might be useful.

Even if he went to the ECHL, he'd have to split time with Missiaen (who the organization seems to like) and Billy Sauer. It sucks for him, there's just no room anywhere.

Which is funny because we have a bunch of goalie prospects but none who are really legitimate.

Wastes as far as I am concerned.

You have solid undrafted goaltending prospects coming out of the NCAA every year.

Take a chance on one of them (Scrivens, Kinkaid)

Don't waste picks on the Stajcers and Lafleurs of the world.

I agree.

Though of course we end up with Matt Zaba and Miika Wiikman.

Absolutely. I cringe when we use 2nd or 3rd round picks on goalies when we have one of the best on our team already. Sure, if Hank was in his mid 30's I could see it...but everyone knows that none of these picks will ever play for the Rangers so what's the point?

If Erixon continues to show improvement, I'd assune that he would stick and Eminger would be the #7 d-man when Staal returns.

If that's the case, do they pair Del Zotto and Erixon or split McDonagh and Sauer?

I would split McDonagh and Sauer. They're both mature beyond their years and should be able to shoulder helping the other guys.
