At least it explains a bit of Pence of Polanco. It's confirmed for Howard about his Achilles tendon. Hopefully Hamels gets better too.

Id want them to consider Aramis Ramirez if the contract if right. He could help this team, he is still very productive.

id put him at 3b and see how polly is after his injury. Since Howard is going to be out a while they could use Utley at 1b sometime and move Polanco to 2nd.

He and Polanco would combine for the most injury-ridden season by a pair at one position in the history of sports.

His defense has slipped some (which is unfortunate, he was a top 3 defensive 3B just a couple years back), but did have a surprisingly great offensive season.

I agree, but the problem is I don't know if theres any SS out there that fit that description. He honestly might be their best option unless they look to a trade. However, I doubt their going to look to trade for a SS with needing to fill 1B. Unless they think Mayberry will be fine, or if they'll fill that hole with a FA.

they are going to need to get production from somewhere, especially howard being out. This lineup as currently constructed won win a World Series.

Gload is probably gone so I would try to sign thome for a yr. Then you got John jr and thome at 1st until Howard comes back. I think polanco will be fine so unless there is a cheap option to fill in at 3rd I say Wilson and mini-mart fill in there.

So I turned the NLCS on for about 15 minutes and I saw the Brewers score just as many runs then as the Phillies did in the last 3 games .

Sign Aramis, Polanco at 2nd, and Utley at 1st. or play Mayberry at 1st and let Utley stay at 2nd.

Id rather them get younger but if they fail to do this then I wouldnt mind them signing Aramis if it for no more than two years. I want Mayberry to play full time along with Brown. Call Gavis up and let him play with Martinez possibly.

And they'll all be out with chronic injuries by June.

Just curious, if we can't sign another SS, who would you want to trade for?

I do know we do need another 1B, but I think if we can get a SS, we can be fine for the infield by having Mayberry at 1st.

If we could get our roster to look like this I'd consider it a pretty good off season....

Rotation
SP- Roy Halladay
SP- Cliff Lee
SP- CC Sabathia
SP- Cole Hamels
SP- Joe Blanton

Lineup
C- Carlos Ruiz
1B- Joey Votto
2B- Chase Utley
3B- David Wright
SS- Jose Reyes
LF- Jason Kubel
CF- Shane Victorino
RF- Hunter Pence

I think they may trade Hamels, he hasnt signed an extension yet so he will probably want to test Free Agency. If he doesnt sign one trading him could get you some serious value.

I don't think there is a reason NOT to sign him.

What I was thinking of earlier with trading for a SS, I guess we'd have to pay out the ass for Tulo?

Well Howard can't be traded, and Brown, Worley, and any of our other prospects wouldn't fetch half of the names on this list. If Cinncy deals Votto, it won't be to an NL powerhouse. I see no reason for the Mets to deal David Wright, and Wayne Cashman would laugh and hang up the phone if someone called for C.C., unless the name "Roy Halladay" was mentioned in the first 3 seconds.

Unless we move Hamels and Brown, I don't see much much assistance coming via trade. Opposing GMs won't be helping us out.
