Corey Crawford?

Speculation around Blackhawks practice today is that Corey Crawford is nursing a groin injury.

ChrisKuc Chris Kuc
#Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford was nursing a groin injury during preseason. Not practicing today.

ChrisKuc Chris Kuc
Word going around practice is #Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford has some sort of injury.

TramyersCSN Tracey Myers
Corey Crawford not here this morning. Some goalie (no idea who) is out here. Emery is here. #Blackhawks

Who's this other goalie?? Darren Pang?

TramyersCSN Tracey Myers
He looks small. RT @JoeyAvsenik: @TramyersCSN How does he look?

edit: Nope, college student.

TramyersCSN Tracey Myers
College student is filling in as goalie for one day at #Blackhawks practice.

why a college student...why not Emery taking all the reps? Do they need two goalies for a practice?

If they are running any type of scrimmage, 4 on 4s, 3 on 3s, etc, then of course they do.

This isn't peewees, they don't just put some cones up in front of the other net.

Well, you have to hope it's just a minor thing and that he'll be good to go on Thursday. He has three and a half days to rest.

I remember reading about that injury in pre-season and gulped ... groin injuries are easily aggravated and sometimes take months to heal properly. This layoff until Thursday may help..... but back-to-back games may be a problem and we could see Emery start a game sooner rather than later.

Uggh can you imagine if this got worse and dragged on ....and we depended on Emery for the next month?

I'm going to the Bruins game Saturday, so I think they should rest Corey on Thursday so he plays against the champs

He played back to back games and looked fine. I'm guessing this is just a day off to rest. I think they can get by Winnipeg on Thursday with Emery if they want to rest him until Saturday.

Club hockey's very big at both ASU and U of Arizona. U of Arizona draws huge for their games. Very popular.

As for your post, I hope that's sarcastic.
Club, that makes sense. As for the post, sadly, it's not. I think Emery facing 30+ shots is going to give up 5+ goals every time if he isn't pulled beforehand. I really hope I'm wrong.

So you actually think signing a club-level college goaltender is a better option than Emery is?

Groin injuries are the kiss of death for goalies. He needs to let it heal fully or it's going to haunt us all season long.

I don't think you hope you are wrong at all. If CC needs to sit out to let this heal, this is exactly why it was important to have Emery around. And please don't bother to respond to this; we all know, ad nauseum, your views.

Apparently it has been bothering him for awhile and he played back to back games, so it can't be too serious.

It may be minor now but anyone that's ever had a groin injury knows that not only does it nag and not really ever go away without complete rest but it's also not all that hard to tweak and make it worse.

Minor or not, a groin injury is about the worst injury a goaltender can have.

Hopefully it stays that way, but I know it's going to be in the back of my mind all season until I hear it's completely gone away. Could be worse. It could be serious now, but it's not. Hopefully it doesn't become worse.

His crotch better be ok. I don't think I could handle seeing Ray Emery for more than 15-20 games.

If Crawford misses any extended time I'm sure you'll see Salak and Emery splitting games.
