So big TSN Bob says Chorney is on waivers today.

My guess: he'll clear.

Yup. It's also good for OKC to get a d-man back as well.

I haven't seen enough pre-season with Potter to really have a strong opinion on him. As long as the guy can be semi-defensively responsible I'll be happy.

Does that mean Petry is probably going to stick with the big club?

Whitney-Gilbert
Smid-Petry
Peckham-Barker
Sutton

Or, does Petry get sent down and Potter is used as the #7D?

Whitney-Gilbert
Smid-Peckham
Sutton-Barker
Potter

I'd have to think Petry stays even after Potter is ready to go. That is, unless we have another injury by then, which is entirely possible.

Can't wait. I feel bad for Petrell though, I wish he would've got a game in before likely being sent down. Also going to be interesting to see what they do with Lander, Renney seems to be a big fan.

I loved lander's game yesterday. Great on the pk, relentless on the defensive side of things. But even with petrell, and potter being sent down when eager and whitney come back, someone needs to go down with gagner coming back right?

Hopefully Chorney clears so that he can help the guys in OKC.

I wonder if Chorney gets claimed by the Habs? They still don't have Markov, they lost Spacek last game, Campoli is down for Months, they need some help.

does it bode well for them if they have to claim a player waived my a weak defensive team?

Well, the Habs did sign Woywitka(although they lost him on waivers) and Chorney is definitely better than him.

LOL, no it doesn't. If Montreal claims him it'll be because they need a warm body to dress in their lineup. Chorney has not shown an NHL quality awareness to the defensive side to his game yet.

Agreed, he hasn't, but he might make a better stop gap then tossing in a kid before he's ready and getting him over his head.

True. Wouldn't that be strange. Have Montreal pick him up and play him in the lineup until one of their injuried d-men come back. Then he goes immediately back on waivers.

Oilers assign Chorney to OKC

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=595308

This is definitely the right decision. I don't see Chorney being claimed by anyone as he's not an NHL player.

Petry has thoroughly outplayed Chorney since turning pro, so this is no surprise (although with some of last years judgement calls...).

Agreed.

Even if Chorney is lost via waivers it wouldn't be such a bad thing as we would free up 1 contract.

As predicted Stortini on waivers today and Nystrom on re-entry.

Ouch for Storts - if he can't stick with that forwards roster, there may not be a place for him anywhere in the league.

I think he signed a two-way deal so I think it could've been apart of the plan from the start.
