Anyone think that Gino, came back to soon because of Crosby's absence ? This could cost the Pens in the long run.
I doubt it, he was training hard from the summer from some of the videos I've watched, doubt he came back to soon. Crosby should be back soon and lots of people forget the Pens almost took Tampa out last year, they will be fine IMO
this may be a silly question... but why was he being booed by the ottawa fans?
Because he's washed up and expensive. He's a much worse case than Gomez, who still has life in him. If the Sens don't buy him out he'll (mis)play out the season and retire.

fair enough 5.5 mil as a 35+ contract isn't the smartest thing i guess :p

Gomez actually competes out there despite what any haters will try and tell you. Gonchar is a joke.
But I guess that doesn't matter now because Ottawa won't be looking to compete (and thus won't be spending to the cap) until probably a couple years after Gonchar leaves. Although that certainly wasn't their intent when they signed him.
And to think I was ridiculed for posting in my blog that Gonchar's contract was horrible, while Martin St. Louis' extension - pretty much the same deal, St. Louis' a bit more and two years long - was a great contract.

I was ridiculed too. TSN called it the best signing of the off season and I called it the worst citing that Gonchar was already declining in Pittsburgh and only maintained the same numbers as his previous team records because of playing on a stacked Penguins roster.
I specifically said it was the worst signing of the off season and would bite them in the ass big time.
Of course I've been wrong before too, it is funny though none the less.

I thought it would bite the Sens in the ass because it was a 3 year deal for a declining 35 year old guy. But I didn't think it would be bad immediately.
He was horrible last season -35 or something. I'm really surprised at how quickly he's gone down the tubes.

I remember Sens fans loving the signing back then and were all like "omg we finally have a D that can help score goals!!@@#!"... and now they're booing him
I remember thinking it was a horrible deal too while watching TSN that day. I think the general consensus was that Habs fans were blinded by that one terrible play in the playoffs, but it looks like that was a sign of things to come.

I thought he was pretty bad his last two years in Pittsburgh. He was more insulated there with Letang Gill Orpik Scuderi playing tougher minutes but was still -4 in 09-10.
