You mean the guy who has won 20% of the faceoffs isnt good enough?

EDIT: Talbot actually did decent tonight went 5 for 9. Couturier went 7 for 18. Giroux 55%, Briere 56%, Read 100% (2 for 2)

A sloppy win but the key word there is win. In the past we would of lost a game like this. Couturier has impressed the hell out of me. LA game sure will be a treat.

^ That is smoother than the victory.

Flyers won 51% of faceoffs tonight.

Official three stars: Giroux, Higgins, Pronger.

Kings fan here. Just wondering why Schenn isn't in the lineup. I thought he was sent down only temporarily to avoid bonuses. What's the deal?

Just wait until Couturier gets finishers to play with. Defense like Primeau, and skill to boot. Man, he's gonna be fun to watch for a long, long time.

The Sedins and the rest of the pp is really, really good for Vancouver, so it's not that alarming that we looked a little lost on the pk at times. Couturier and Talbot had trouble finding their positions all night though. Couturier had a few sloppy passes in the third period as well, still he keeps his head cool in close games which is pretty impressive as a young rookie.

Brière was pretty invisible, outside of that great play on Meszaros goal. Hope we'll see more of that from now on. Now that Zherdev isn't around anymore, he might compete for the worst player defensively in the league though.

Timonen might be the best Finnish goalie in the league. And there's some pretty solid guys he's competing with.

I wish there'd be more 5v5 play, special teams gets a little boring after a while (nerve-wrecking, but still somehow boring). Quite a few of the penalties taken by both sides were pretty unnecessary though, so it's not like it's all on the referees.

Beating Vancouver while not playing your best game, feels kind of good. Great start to the season.

51% in the faceoff circle. We're dominating.

Giroux, Read and Timonen would be my 3 stars of the game for the Flyers.

I think if he plays ~30 games in the AHL, his cap hit is reduced... which is what they did with Giroux.

Plus Couturier is playing well enough to make a the deicision really difficult before his free trial period is up.

Consider his age, the opponent and the high of a home opener, the intensity of the game, he did fairly well.

I knew the ref would come back at us after the 4 pp in the first, we deserved a few of the calls, but he totally put his whistle away towards them.

Some on the canuks board laughing at us saying bryz isn't very good. I personally think both goalies played good games. The talent on the ice is just that good on these two teams, the goalies really didn't have much of a chance on the goals.

I have a hard time seeing how Bryz "played like junk". I agree he didn't make a flashy save, but it's not like he let in 3 softies.
You can probably partially blame him for the first goal, but two goals were the direct result of the team in front of him being stupid, and the 4th one was Vanocouver's PP doing what it does best.

Only forward w/ more TOI then Couturier was Briere and it was only 12 more seconds. I thought he was awesome tonight especially on pk against a great powerplay. Got his first NHL pt and was inches away from his 1st goal and came out of the game as a plus 1 in a crazy game. No way he is going anywhere

I loved seeing Couturier out there for the big minutes at the end of the 3rd. And that perfect pass to Voracek for his goal was a thing of beauty.

Wish he would have sniped that goal when he rang it off the iron.
