I always figured other boards did it because they would approach 1k posts between the pre-, during and post- game threads, so it was done to try to eliminate the splicing of threads.

I am all for as few threads as possible.

Maybe if our GDT required multiple threads because of post count then these would be relevant. Otherwise, what's the point?
