I was thinking Thornton as well on that assist, but he does not have the insane size and strength to protect the puck like Thornton does (yet), and is meticulously responsible in his own zone. He does not take risks to generate offense, is not overly physical, does not skate fast, but has elite vision and hands. A very interesting package. Closest I can think of right now is a bigger Jere Lehtinen maybe, but I agree that a more offensively gifted Handzus is a great comparison.

Has it come out with what JVR said to get his unsportsmanlike? I can't imagine what he could have said to warrant the call. Refs get **** from players all the time.

Sorry if this was already answered I can't read thru all the posts.

You put a picture of Crosby on the big screen philly fans will boo. Plain and simple. Anyone who thinks they were booing cancer is insane. They of course forget about the flyers wives carnival they've been having for 35 years and the millions they've raised.

Hodgson was making a lot of things happen out there. Seems like you guys have yet another talented player to add to the roster.

LOL that's interesting, finally even the fans are starting to see Luongo for what he is, an average goalie. Their you go CBC your hype of Luongo isn't working anymore.

Yeah, a lot of the penalties were deserved too though. JVR got hooked a little, but not enough to swear at the ref about it.

Even up calls for the first IMO. JVR has to realize how much league tenure he has before he starts chirping officials for sure though. That penalty he took really swung the flow of the game.

Yes, a lot of penalties were deserved, but some of Canucks' infractions were not whistled

Boo the program director for putting it up in the first place.

Wow, yeah it would have made a LOT more sense to advertise the Wives Carnival.

I can't believe this is even an issue. The same ad with Crosby, or one like it, has been run on the jumbotron for years. And people boo'ed it then, and they did every time it came on.

Probably something like, 'you've called a bunch borderline nonsense all night, why didn't you call the hook that disrupted my scoring chance?' with some added expletives.

He was in his rights, it was the classic hand hook from behind they are SUPPOSED to be calling.

JVR was annoyed that he got picked up for a very marginal hook. Rinaldo got called for a nothing play and coburn got called for roughing when Edler dived 10 feet.

The refs were really trying to make up the calls from the first period.

Finally saw second period highlights (watched periods one and three live). I think VAN's third goal (short side) was the only weak goal of the nine.

I hope players don't start doing what alberts did to draw a penalty. You have a guy right on your back and you attempt to stop 4 feet from the boards, not a good idea. Someone is going to get killed

OK, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he suddenly put on the brakes. I don't think he was trying to draw a penalty, I just thought it was a bad time to be abruptly slowing.

PuckDaddy should have just let it be. Not enough people knew about it for us to be publicly defended, and by posting the story, it brought the incident to the attention of millions by being pegged to the front page of Yahoo's site. Not saying it's all on him, but he sure didn't help brush it under the rug. Now it's a national story.

He did, He knew that voracek was coming and decided to stop as soon as he could. Thats why Voracek was complaining, considering he hardly touched him
