Two LED rings added, scoreboard to follow at the BAC

That is what it is going to look like when the new scoreboard is up, per GRs blog. GR said they added a a second ring on the 400 level, and a third one around the scoreboard. If anyone goes to the game this weekend, get some pics please, and video, so we can see the progress.

Looks awesome, can't wait. Going to opening night for the first time since I saw the 8-3 win over the Bruins when we had Bertuzzi and Auld. Here's hoping for an awesome game and victory!

Now, all we need is the giant Panther head to come down for the players to skate through and we'll be all set!!

What are the chances the scoreboard goes up during the year? Or will this be a 2012-13 enhancement?

Man I feel so proud to be a Panthers fan after seeing that, I'm starting to feel bad for Stephen Ross cause it looks like every other SFLA team is starting to see the light except him.

GR said that he has heard the scoreboard thing for some time now, and maybe he can give us some info if he sees this thread. I have heard the same thing, and that was when I was a season ticket holder, before I left for Greece in 08. I use to date the girl that did some of the artwork on the LED rings at the Triple A in Miami, and she told me that the ring cost about $2 million. If a LED ring alone cost that much, we can only imagine how much a new scoreboard will cost, so I can see why they have been waiting. Plus, the lower bowl ring at the BAC is much better quality than the ones at the Triple A.

Like I said when I compared the four major sport teams in South Florida, in the consolidated sports thread...the Heat and Panthers are obviously way ahead of the Fins and Marlins, and with the Fins lack of success under Ross so far, and yet another idiot move by Loria (placing that ATROCIOUS thing in center field, when a Marlin hits a home run), its seems like I couldnt be more right. If those two can get their heads out of their *****, we could really have one of the most successful sport cities in the country.

That "thing" in center field does not affect the outcome of games.

------------------

All that's missing is getting rid of the blue jerseys.

That thing in center field is already creating bad press for the team. That thing was approved by less than 4% of the people polled. That thing cost them $2.5 million, which could have been used for something more in tune with the team, and the city of Miami. I understand that there was a clause in the deal with the city that there has to be some type of artistic design in the stadium, but that is ridiculous.

And it doesnt matter if it effects the games, what he is doing will effect the fans. Why take away from all the history the team had, and get rid of all the team colors? Why not adjust the colors/schemes/logos? Why alienate the little fan base that has stuck with the Marlins through the years?

But if you want me to go through what Loria does with the team on the field, I dont have a problem, because I can have a blast with that.

BTW, the blue jerseys will be gone after this year.

This is great. Our scoreboard has always been one of the worst. If we could only get a goal horn that didn't sound like some grandmas old Buick, we'd be a legit building now!

No, it seems to be at the top, near the rafters.

Looks real sweet in the mocked up image. Let's hope it is as good when installed.

There is no new scoreboard this year, just the two LED rings and maybe the third one above the old scoreboard.

I was told the Panthers had a deal in place with a start-up Czech company to put in a big video scoreboard on the cheap this summer. Like REALLY cheap as this company is trying to get into the US market and wanted to start with the Panthers.

Well, that fell apart. And that Panthers have been telling me since 2008 when they got some money from the county that a new scoreboard was on its way. I believe 'they' chose to put up those two giant video boards that mostly show just ads as you leave the building instead of the scoreboard because it creates more income than a scoreboard can.

Like I put on the blog, we'll see.

The second LED ring will be nice.

I went to the first pre season game and I didn't see any LED rings just the one we currently have. Something I wish every live sports event would have is a play by play announcer like on TV. It just makes the game feels more alive and exciting to me. Sometimes the arena seem so quiet and dull, I just don't get the same experience I get @home with my big LED tv and Bose sound.

I like the opposite experience. I wish TV gave the option to mute the announcers and still keep the sounds of the game.

Agreed. I don't go to games to be serenaded by Goldie lol, or feel like I am back in front of the TV.

There is nothing better than being at a game with a crowd who are hugely involved in the match. It adds hugely to the match day experience. However, without commentators on tv and just hearing the crowd noises I feel a bit out of an outsider.

Looks great! Once the new scoreboard goes up, eventually, we will have one of the nicest arenas in the country.
