Moen, Engqvist and Plekanec were alright.
Subban, Gionta and Gill were very weak.

Positives are that we dominated them in faceoffs and we had many shots on goal. Bad defensively tonight and Price wasn't that impressive. Nothing to worry about, Flames wanted it more and Habs just didn't bring it. On to the next game!
I basically agree, although I'd put Weber into Group "A" - Thought he played a very good game again.

Darche's penalty was a joke. I don't complain about calls as much as a lot of people, but that was just bad.

WOW, horrible game!! Don't worry boys, we keep this up, we will have our superstar forward pretty soon (Yakupov)

Bad effort overall, but there is still 79 games left, chill out. But like I said, if we still are hot and cold every game from now up to April, it will be goodbye playoffs, hello top 15 draft pick.

Oh please. Speak for yourself, I'm sure many posters agree with my assessment. I've seen many compliments of Gomez tonight. He won almost 65% of his faceoffs. He charged the net and took shots, unlike last season. He knew his linemates were off tonight so tried to make things happen.

Pessimists like you are what give Habs fans on these boards a bad reputation. Whining after one loss about every single player. Stop holding an immature grudge against players and find a few positives in a loss for once.

I'm ready to give up JM if he puts Plekanec on the point in the next game's PP. I really do, because I'm sick and tired of seeing Plekanec's abilities wasted on the point. We all know how much of a talented guy he is, but putting him in a position he hasn't showed to be effective at is ridiculous. Let him be creative at centre instead of pinpointing him on a area of the ice where he's pretty much limited to passing.

I can't stop repeating this enough.

If he didn't stop it in a 4-1 game when the PP was virtually ineffective. He's never going to stop it. I'll reckon we get Markov back and we put Subban on second wave, still using Plekanec on the point.

Very true, excellent point. Weber had a great game. It's very encouraging to see this after a mediocre preseason.

1-6 in home openers since the lockout, with the only win via a shootout.

Disappointing performances when Roy, Gainey, Robinson, jersey retirements.

Maybe these pregame ceremonies aren't the best thing for the team.

Totally agree, this team has looked so emotionless at times. I think they'll find their groove though.

Wait... you don't? Especially in Diaz's case. The guy played an awesome game, especially for his third game ever in the NHL. Very encouraging to see.

Positives from tonight's game:
We outshot them
Plekanec had an excellent game
Cole showed some flashes of what he can do with talented teammates (see shift with Plek in the 2nd)
Players were going to the net
Engqvist & Palushaj were noticable
Weber had a good game
Lars Eller looks ready to play top 9 minutes already

Negatives:
Gill was way too slow out there
Gionta is playing like ****
Desharnais kept getting outmuscled everytime he was on the ice on 5 on 5 and even on the PP
PK's play hasn't impressed me as of late, is he known as a slow starter?
Diaz played like a rookie; lots of turnovers (which is normal)
Gorges wasn't good defensively

I may agree that Diaz played an okay game even with a few turnovers, but the other 2 were god awful.

The only positive from Gomez last year was that Desharnais was playing good. Problem is, he's been terrible so far, and Gomez is the same Gomez from last year.

Subban's maturity level seems to have regressed. Enough dipsy doodling and screwing around with the puck.
Yes but JM has balls. Darche on the second PP instead of Cole. !! Great hockey mind !

Good grief. It starts all over again... making excuses for the lack of results by Gomez. Why is it ALWAYS the fault of his linemates.

3 ex coaches on AC saying the same thing. Get Pleks off the point on the PP and put Weber there. Why does JM not listen.

Really? I mean, come on, did you watch the game? He never shot the puck last year and always went for the cross-ice pass or something crazy. Tonight he took shots and went to the front of the net for rebounds.

He won almost 65% of his faceoffs according to a post from earlier, which are outstanding numbers in the dot. He set up his linemates once or twice for goals tonight but Gionta especially was simply off his game. Aside from a couple fanned passes there is nothing to complain about Gomez tonight. His all around game was solid.

Because centers who get paid 7 millions/year need good linemates to justify their salaries.

The two things at which we suck: season openers and home openers.

Hopefully JM puts his act together in time to play against the Avalanche.

For Now We are where we're supposed to be , a 7-8th place team ... Maybe with the help of some youngsters or adding good vets. we'll aim for the fourth , sure the return of Marky Mark will Help

But I predicted the end of PG with the signing of Cole which is terrible!
