IMO, it was Fedetenko or Prospal. Being that Prospal got $2.6M, his injuries, and age, I'm positive that price was too high for the Rangers to even consider. Not a big loss but he would have been a nice LW for 1 yr with Richards and Gaborik. In the long term, we will benefit if one of our younger players is able to step it up. Next year Kreider will probably get a spot but he'll take Wolski's or Fedetenko's spot so there should be two openings next season. Maybe Hagelin or Bourque get's Feds spot.

like I siad, I doubt Prospal wouldn't have signed for less if we gave him an offer.

He definitely wasn't very affective during the playoffs.

But, him down the stretch was a huge reason for us making the playoffs. He worked his *** off.

He had a lot of heart last year but was breaking down. I will miss him but it was probably time for him to go.

He would take a paycut. He stated in Czech news that his family like New York area, and family is his top priority obviously.
He would be better option than Feds or Wolski...

Not in the scoring (no one was )

But in the "it" game. That fire, and grit, even from "old men" is what won the Bruins the CUp

I miss the tan…..

He and Higgins both scored in the same game the other night. Did they ever do that when they were Rangers?

The guy wasn't there physically last season, he's slow and getting slower. He did provide a lot of spirit to our team, could finish on some offensive plays, and was very good in our own zone, but he's on his way down. It was the right thing to do.

You have to:

1. Part with aged player when he is still good
2. Have the replacement readily available.

Sather's problem is the second part. He is alright with 1st. Rucinski, Starka, Nylander and Jagr cases all didn't pass the second part. Messier, Drury failed 1st. Only Redden case passed both. As to Prospal the jury is still out on a second part.

I don't know where you get off getting rid of anyone with Wolski still on the team

1) We're 2 games into the season
2) We haven't played a game in North America

If you need money to be motivated you don't belong out there.

And exactly what should motivate him in your Fantasyland where players get paid in lollipops and play for...here comes the most tired cliche in sports...the love of the game? Maybe he wants to get paid AND he loves the game and wants to win. Why does it have to be so black or white? Oops. Forgot where I was. EVERYTHING here is black or white.

We all wanna get paid. But you shouldn't need it to be a contract year nor should you perform better in contract years. You should bring your A game all the time. If you only bring your A game when the green stuff is on the line then you don't belong in the NHL. I can't stand players who suddenly double their production in contract years.

Boy you give the big club lots of time to work out their issues, eh?

he was? He came back from major knee surgery and scored nearly a point a game, and he's continuing that pace now.

They made the post season because of Prospal. On the other hand, Prospal being the difference between winning the cup and not winning it on this team? No chance in hell.

It is a travesty that he wasn't resigned. Look at tonight's lineup. Who would bring more? Wolski or Prospal? Wolski's date of birth is the only reason that he's here.

Prospal obviously wasn't healthy last season. He might be the perfect 1st line winger in a perfect world - or a perfect winger on the 3rd or 4th line if he's aged that way - but he would earn a spot. WW scratch.

It's also nice for players to see a perfect vet. Hell, I'd love to bring back Marty Straka if he can still skate!

Prospal was a great Ranger and he really did show his colors in NY. But the Rangers organization is thinking about the future. Prospal is 36 years old and has a chronic knee. How much could you really expect for him? And for how long could he maintain these numbers? The answer is not too long. I love Vinny and miss him deeply but we need to focus on the future of the Rangers.

I agree that Christensen and Avery have no place on this team though.
